Bad news for the UPS pilots out there - sorry to hear about it.

One person you can also thank is Barry Hussein Obama (aka "the Socialist") and his proposed tax on interantional/multinational profits. That sure won't help companies with significant international exposure like UPS and Fedex. That will definitely impact the bottom line. Thanks to everyone on these boards who voted him into office... You are also partly responsible for the pace of the super-slow economic turnaround that is killing jobs. Sorry to get political but it's the truth. And no, Palin would also be a terrible President. It's very, very simple: we need a fiscal conservative at the helm.

Good luck to all the UPS pilots impacted - hope you get your jobs back soon.

Yeah, its all Obama's fault. You had your fiscal conservative for 8 years and look what happened. And its funny you say its his fault for a slow turnaround, what about the freakin mess bush got us into in the first place you moron.

Scope- you're equating Jon Stewart with hundreds of people that decided the stimulus was what we had to do. What does that have to do with the Daily Show?
Make no mistake- republicans only bailed on the stimulus b/c they knew it would pass without them. They then got all the benefits for their constituency, avoided the depression they would have caused, and can still run their campaigns on the false idea that they are against, and voted against, a stimulus that is universally hated. Great politics, but not responsible on any level. If the GOP were in power- that stimulus would have still happened.
Do you have any idea at all what socialism is? It's an academic term that describes many of the programs that the right fights to keep, but is now being used as a boogie man. Is england a socialist country? is canada? the problem with socialist countries hasn't been their social programs= it's the dictators in power and how they implement their policies to keep that power.
Again- what's that got to do with UPS 'trying' to furlough?
Are you trying to make an argument that one should not watch a multitude of news sources? One should NOT get info from as many sources as possible? Maybe even it's more important to get news and opinion from those you disagree with so as to better understand other viewpoints?
Let's see -- the rest- someone who doesn't work at WN trashing it- original.
irrelevant obama digs... ok... next

Ben Dover- 4th airline - nice try. Been furloughed. Again, at another airline- i doubt i'd have this opinion- but at swa- i really think everyone would be working to get me back- this includes the pilots being as efficient as possible. Crazy when a liberal has to defend capitalism. I knew the risk of having my seniority start over- and ive actually practiced responsibility (you know, instead of just the rhetoric spilled out by conservatives who use it as a punchline?) by filling my coffers, unloading my debt, and coming up with a plan if i am furloughed- SWA by all accounts isn't taking advantage of it's employees- i have faith that money saved by a more efficient flight ops would be well spent towards a more solvent and competitive airline- That's an unusual thing in the airlines, but should be rewarded with a good attitude if it doesnt work out for me in the short term.
(Gasp!) *(You mean you dont have to buy a bigger house and a BMW when you pass probation- i thought that was in the contract!!)
Joe- you're an idiot-
where and why would a pension equate to being a liberal? Southwest pilots retire with enough if they are smart about it. Pensions are a good thing, a valuable thing, and it was outright theft when they were stolen. Employees are not investors. Their pensions should not have been allowed to be jacked.
But here's the dig- IMO- everybody who keep showing up to work for airlines that stole millions- especially those who vote for GOP candidates who worked to make it legal to steal millions from pilots- you get what you deserve.
Any part of that unclear.

Good luck UPS- stand up for yourselves. You deserve everything you've earned.

Can we lighten things up a bit?

Who's pro choice?

Actually Bush was never a fiscal conservative. Bush was a republican, big difference. Reagan was the last true fiscal conservative. I said it before and will say it again. All those in DC, republican and dumbocrat, share in this mess. Blaming Bush for everything just shows how brainwashed you are by the drive by media. Guess what, Bush is gone and things are still getting worse. Who's been in control in congress for the past several years?????? You know, the ones that make the laws in this land, and spend YOUR tax money.........

You're trying to explain logic to a moron! It just simply won't work.

Nobody is going to bash Reagan however to call him a true fiscal conservative is odd. He, like Obama, took over during a recession and like Obama drove up the national debt through deficit spending. The odd part is after the recession was ending he continued to drive up the debt. From 1980 to 1990 the national debt as percent of GDP continued to rise. This debt curve only went down during the Clinton years. Wouldn't that qualify him as a fiscal conservative?

So if both are at fault why aren't they redumblicans to go along with the dumbocrats?

If the POTUS can only have two terms in office why can't we have the same for those in congress? I can see no reason why we can't have term limits for all our elected officials.

Look at California - term limits are good in theory only- do you know the level of corruption that occurs in California BECAUSE of term limits- by the time our politicians know how the government really works they leave office- staffers and lobbyists are there long term, know the system in and out, and cannot be voted out of office.

You may not like career politicians, but they DO have to be re-elected. If they were doing a bad job they can be voted out. The problem lies with us not keeping tabs on them well enough
