Double B

Jan 11th interview, Jan 12th physical. The letter was dated Feb 10th but I just moved so it took 10 days to find me. Best of of luck to all

I got the call yesterday for the March 18 class. Sorry I don't have any info about how many are in the class or what equipment everyone is going to.

Got the call for 18 March as well!!!! Wish I could give you the reason why, hope lots more calls go out soon! 25 in this class. Late for work but, I'll post more info as I get it.

From UPS HR when they called me. Apparently they slipped the class a few days and are starting it on Friday this time. Hope lots of swimmers get the call, they were not done with calls when they called me. Both FOs and FEs, since I'm on the young side, expecting an FE. That's all the info I've got so far. Thanks to all of the help from everybody, I am grateful and psyched!!

Did you ask if they were done calling? And what do mean by young? By age of flight time. Congrates, if I recall right you were not in the pool very long.

Looks like afpa said they are NOT done calling.

Seniority in class at UPS is determined by age. Oldest = most senior.

I assume you mean age or flight time? Flight time does not factor into seniority.

afpa,

Great news. You seem to have pretty accurate insight on class dates, any news if they are still having two March classes? Hope to see you there!

Any idea what the average hiring age is these days? How old is "old"?

I hope your guess is correct as I would be leaning toward the "old" crowd, but I still haven't gotten the call. The day I interviewed I was the youngest in my group and I am 37. I would guess the average age to be closer to 40 with the high end being low to mid forties based on folks I personally know that have interviewed. Young or old we are all ready for THE call.

Good luck!

That may be true of the day you interviewed, but bear in mind UPS is all about diversity. Your class will be constructed to represent an varied mix of age, background, race and experience.

Since classes are generated from the total pool, there will more than likely be a handful of younger candidates which will dilute the average class age toward the younger thirties.

Great insight, I hope you are correct. Is it true they tend to give the older guys the higher seniority numbers and choice of airframe?

Seniority in your class will be assigned by age. Oldest = most senior.

No, new hires in class do not get their pick of aircraft. It will be assigned to you. However, the next classes will probably have a mix of FO’s and SO’s. They might ask if you want to be an FO vs. SO, but I’m simply guessing. I don’t know for sure.

As far as classes that are purely SO’s (as was always the case in the past) you had no say in which a/c you got. You found out on day 1 by looking at the book they placed in front of your nametag.

Waiting in Line

afpa, Stan Congrats on class!!

Great to hear folks moving in the right direction. I interviewed 26 Jan, physical 27 Jan. The phone is always close by and I cannot wait to get the call! Thanks for posting the class info.

Good Luck and again Congratulations!!

Assigned positions are determined by the fleet managers for each fleet. They go throught whos being hired for a specific class date and based upon experience, and ability, take who they want. The FE positions are selected first and then assigned, then FO positions.

also got the call on Friday and was told that I'm going staight to the A-380 as a Captain! Cool. Anyway, I can confirm 25 in class and that F/O will be assigned by age. I was told that they will call you if they are going to offer you a right seat. No call = F/E. Heard that there will be a small class at the end of the month.

Anyone else hear anything (today Feb 28th)? I interviewed Jan 27 Med the next day, and I am going nuts waiting for the call!

Yo AirWilly,
Quite familiar with the feeling. Don't worry, it will happen, just sit tight any enjoy you last few days at AirWis.

AirWilly, If you want you can take my shoes. Interviewed in mid Dec, got poolie letter early Jan, still waiting for a call. I can't say be cool, since I am having trouble myself.

Easier said than done, I've got a PC at the end of March I would rather not do.

Airwilly,
Your right. I DO know how hard it is to wait in a pool. This is my second time in an airline pool, and it was miserable for me too. I know EXACTLY how you feel. I really hope you don't have to do that PC.

?*!

Hey guys, I interviewed 3 weeks ago and like everyone else I have not heard anything yet. However, did anyone start receiving their records from previous airlines during their waiting period? I have not.
