Just wondering if United is still doing alot of hiring? Also wondering if anyone in recent classes could post what aircraft and bases have been avalable? Could anyone tell me what the junior base are?

Thanks alot

I'll be back at TK in mid April (coming off of mil leave). UAL currently has a couple of classes per month; size somewhere in the teens. Aircraft are A320/737. I think that Airbus is more likely. It seems like there are a good mix of bases - LAX, SFO, DEN, ORD, DCA. If you don't get the base that you want, you can try to trade while in training or you can put in a bid for a lateral. You'd likely get a lateral very quickly.
Plans currently call for a couple of classes per month, ending with one class in June. Classes to resume after the summer.
When I talked to a scheduler, he told me that there is talk of cancelling the last two classes - end of May and June. Nothing firm.

That's very general, but accurate enough for FI.

About 300 last year and another this year... classes end in Spring....

classes in Fall 08 based on need....

The February "Flight Plan" says 200 new hires before summer. 41 already in class and 68 more have accepted offers.

I have a class date in mid-April, so I'm starting to think that I'll be stuck at the bottom for a while.
How is long-call vs. short-call reserve proportioned, and how does it work?
Thanks!

Not even close. Unless you alpo geeneuses are counting recallees as newhires. Not that I'd put that past alpo.

ALPO geniuses? "ALPO?" WTF Andy? You realize you're choosing to come back to an ALPA carrier, right?
