How many above the age of 65 over at UAL now??

AA767AV8TOR

How many can there be with the law not allowing anyone over the age of 65 to fly in Part 121 operations ? Could UAL flight Ops be violating the law by secretly allowing Pilots over the age of 65 to continue to work?

Sorry to hear the news. How many above the age of 65 over at UAL now??

I don't know about UAL but CAL has 147 on furlough and announced another 146 with just under 300 pilots over 60 still flying.................

I wonder if one number has anything to do with the other....

The over 60 crowd claims they have nothing to do with the current round of furloughs?? That's convenient huh...

not true..
What they announced back in July was that the latest bid had 146 pilots overstaffed. (not really, but the company would have you believe that).

In July they sent out another round of Potential Furlough letters (got mine for the 2nd year in a row) and at the middle of August they announced no furloughs.
Got enough COLA's, retirements and Reduced Flying Line volunteers to save the 146.

We do still have 147 on the street and I hope that the next bid will bring them back, or at least they're back by the summer 2010 flying schedule~

motch

UAL aprox 250 per year would have been retiring at 60 and now will begin again dec 2012. I believe Cal was about the same. It actully was listed here somewhere and matched the seniority list at ual and afriend at cal checked theirs informally

age 62 starts dec 2009

lets see what happens

Also does this count the people that took Voluntary furlough..I know one guy who took an voluntary furlough and got a good load of $$$ to do so....does this number reflect those or are the fresh new?

To the best of my knowledge voluntary furloughs received no incentive money.

He may have been referring to the guys that were on Military leave, took the recall, and then got paid not to show up to class because they were going to get furloughed anyways. I know at least one guy that did this...got a couple months pay out of United even though he had no intention of ever coming back from his cushy ART job.

United furloughs its own pilots while adding Denver routes with RJ's.

Gotta love that.

Gup

No **ite, and UAL pilots stand by and let their brothers get booted out the door. As long as its not them right....?

Im just waiting for Southwest, Virgin, Aer Lingus to start hiring so I can help put them out of business

I agree, I didn't read anything malicious into the General's comment.

I guess I could have stated my first post a little clearer, but I in no way would ever make fun of any furloughed pilots. I was just trying to ask if this announcement was a NEW announcement for additional furloughs. And then I wished them good luck.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Really General? Well, if you say so, it must be true.......

You must be a different General than the guy I'm thinking of. Not only has that guy made fun of furloughed pilots, he's shown utter disgust for them, and implied that their ALPA negotiated, unlimited recall rights were totally worthless.

Yeah, you must be a different guy.

Isn't the Internet great? No accountability for anything, not even your own words :)

That's all right, General, we all know what a great guy you are. There's not a single egocentric, self serving bone in your body.

Yeah, whatever dude. I have only be pro-furloughed pilot----never made fun of any furloughees. I want you to search for me making fun of any of them, and try not to "touch it up" yourself. You will be looking for a LONG time. I had many friends who were furloughed after 9-11, and saw a lot of pain out there. Start your search NOW.

Bye Bye--General Lee
