While were at it, why do Delta pilots always read back with their call sign first? Happens enough times that I wondered if it was taught in Delta indoc.

Signed, I need a life :D

I agree that some UAL transmissions sound wierd. DAL had a big push about 15 years ago to say call sign first. Now, not at all.

Why don't you go play some tennis or something...........

The French open is sooner than you think.........

I've noticed that also but it doesn't bother me. At least it's not as bad as the US airways guys would feel the need to have the boom mic right up against their lips so every 'P' or 'S' they speak has feedback on the mic from their breath. I use the communal telex 750 headsets as well but the trick is to put the mic below your mouth and away from your face right at the tip of your chin. Without the foam cover it can pick up almost anything so you don't need to worry about being heard. Besides do you really want your mouth on something that has touched the mouths of thousands of other pilots?

They're no different from the Telex IMO,

Just about the cheapest in both price and quality that you can get. Many folks have bought a better setup.

It's not your imagination. They place this headset/mic in the cockpit

except the boom mic is chopped off in the middle so there's no foam or button chamber at the end of it to cut out background noise. It's their way of "funding the future."

Those look like they go in your ear? Are those shared by every pilot?

Also, when did delta go from 'Delta' to 'DeltaS'?

I always laugh when the say Deltas (with an S). Never could figure that out.

+1 on the United transmission. I just thought they took the headset off immediately and started using the cheap French handmike on the Airbus.

Demmit. Was hoping flopgut got caught stuck mic being douchie-er than our 3G guy.
Guess we're still king on that front...

Yes, you are indeed.

Btw: You have no idea how nice it is to leave the Country and not have to listen to you guys ask for direct constantly. I'll make you a deal: I'll start sticking those Nerf muppet nose things on the headsets in the airplanes I fly, you guys try to learn some common practices South of the border, deal?

They're saying "Delta's" with the apostrophe.
Or they are Delta planes flying in formation. Since being a military pilot is a hiring requirement they're all qualified for this. Also, they could be air refueling from one of the Delta tankers from the tanker fleet based at the Delta oil refinery.

Airbus guys seem to always use a hand microphone when above a certain altitude. Noise cancelling capabilities of the 80's Airbus design is limited.

La posibilidad directa de CABOS que podemos mantener nuestra propia remoci?n de terreno

You can only run a little longer. We're coming and our directs are coming with us!
;)

We have this switch on the audio panel that says " annoy other pilots" we are trained to leave it on at all times.

Pretty sure that switch is only in Republic airplanes. What's up with their loud radios and them going 3 octaves lower with each transmission?
