us air didn't want the twu to be involved in this case. the doj didn't want them involved. so why are they involved? They say they are in favor of the merger seems all this gonna do is slow things down.

TWU agreed to just be a "friend to the court" and not intervene.
 
If we give up that many slots who is the beneficiary and how do you decide it. I know Barger has been creaming his shorts about all the dc gates.
 
Why doesn't the judge just tell the DOJ that they will have to wait until the fares actually do skyrocket before bringing a case? Then if they want to strip US of slots they can go for it, Sword of Damocles' - style.
