You sound like the DO at Flexjet, and that's not a compliment. He's always prancing around recurrent telling the pilots how good things are coming yada yada yada but he can't tell us what they are. Don't want to steal the thunder ya know. It doesn't help, so either post some useful information or go away.

TMC is starting to head in the right direction. Since management won't even discuss improving the working conditions, the pilots are going to start an organizing drive. Managers are taking pilots out to dinner, at company expense, to try and convince them a union isn't needed. We will see what happens.

That's funny, FLOPS management did the Exact same thing with us when we were thinking about unionizing. Must be in the universal playbook

TMC Pilots have been working on the organizing process since the beginning of this year guys. Their card drive started on August 20, 2014, and met the IBT card threshold within two months, and then they were all off to the National Mediation Board for signature verification. The NMB verified the required showing of interest, and set an election which started today, December 1. The polls close on December 22 at 14:00, and they'll have an answer shortly after.

It's a long hard road to a good contract, but it's worth the struggle. Having worked for unionized and non-unionized aviation companies in the past, I'd never go back.

This is a great example of the process at work. The majority made their choice and will get the representation sought.

The numbers seeking representation just keep growing in this part of the industry.

Netjets, Flight Options, CitationAir, TMC... Perhaps things at Flexjet will cause them to follow.

See what I mean about a bumpy road? You've only just voted in the union and you already have people judging future results which haven't happened yet. Pilots LOVE to eat ther own.

"The bar" can be a lot of different things. Personally, I'd be thrilled to see everyone do better than Netjets. I love the idea of a "race to the top" rather than how this industry has gone for so many years.

If you don't get parity with NJ on your first contract, but you get something that you're happy with, then you've definitely raised the bar for yourselves. As for the "industry bar", if union representation is working for you and you've successfully improved your working conditions and compensation, then you've raised the industry bar. A flying job that is improving versus going the other way is definitely raising the industry bar.

And the NJ contract, which would appear to be pretty decent compared to others, isn't the only bar to be compared to for raising it. What if you can secure a contract better than the pay and work rules at XOJet? Or better than FLOPS? Or Flex? Now you've given the ones below you something to strive for. The industry begins rising. The bar will be coming up.

Stay strong and unified and ignore the negative comments meant to make you look bad if you don't meet some arbitrary standard set by someone not with your company imposes in you!

But the fact is the TMC pilots will be ahead of the XO and FX pilots the minute they ratify a CBA containing the standard "just cause" provision, thereby removing their at-will status. This is regardless of what else ends up in their agreement.

He basically agreed that the union vote was a sign of a failure on the part of management. Will be very interesting to see how he responds to the recently submitted comprehensive proposal with this vote fresh in his memory.
