I concur with that... I thought it was good at first and I got sick of the memos telling you if you call in sick you have to go see a flight manager... and the same old closing "up to and including termination". So happy I left, goto MESA

I Left last month after almost two years with the company. Like everybody says "Great bunch of guys to fly with". But after awhile that fact just does not cut it anymore. You have to work hard to be as incompetent as the management is at Trans States. If they only would learn to channel that energy toward something positve it might be a descent place. But than again that would actually require someone that gives a crap about their fellow man.

My best advice from an Alum of " The Hulas academy of lowballing and bar lowering" is to stay away from that place like you might pick up Ebola. If you enjoy flying they will quickly drive any enjoyment you might get out of the proffesion and leave you with an empty questioning of why did I choose this field again? I slightly rember a time when flying use to be enjoyable! Thanks Trans States!!!

Wow it only took two years of flying before you hated it?! Agreed.......mgt is one of the worst out there in the industry but if you let it get to you then that is a weakness of yours my friend. Section 6 at ANY airline sucks and with the added GoJet debacle it is only going to get worse.

I will let nothing interfere with my love of the job as a whole.

I am truly happy when our pilots go on to bigger and better companies.........we all are trying to get out.

Does anybody know what mims they are hiring at. I hear they are hiring low time right now. How are they to work for

As someone already said, if you get hired at low time, you will be an fo forever. Their company required total flight time is 4000 hours. only 800 hours company time counts for double. So you are officially looking at 3200 hours total time to upgrade. If you have 500 hours, its not worth it. Be a cfi for a while longer and go somewhere respectable that only has atp mins, okay at least a halfway respectable regional, so that you don´t subject yourself to that company.

Educational thread, to say the least.

I had no idea morale was so low at TSA; I found an interesting article in USA Today that says that United is ending its "hublet" in San Antonio in part because TSA had a "pilot shortage".

Very sad.

http://www.usatoday.com/travel/flights/2006-03-02-united-sanantonio_x.htm

"St. Louis-based Trans State Airlines, which operates from San Antonio as United Express, cited a lack of passengers, a pilot shortage and high fuel costs as reasons for ending the flights, said Barbara Prossen, assistant to the San Antonio aviation director. "

Is Geaux Jets still growing at the expense of TSA?

Yep. And as for their hiring mins, I heard one guy got hired with 371 hours. But yeah, it's better to CFI it for a few more months until you can go somewhere better.

We just hired a guy with 400 TT 20 ME! God I feel sorry for the CA's that have to babysit.

Meanwhile I've got 1185/22 and 1727 navigator hours and they haven't called me. Wonder kid I guess.

well looks like the word is out again and they are hiring pilots with super low time just like they did back in 2000-01... This time I think they are in more trouble than before....

To echo the thoughts of many, stay away from Trans States. I flew with a bunch of great guys but the management is worthless.

for all of you low timers I say go to TSA for a while, get your time and get out. If you don't want to flight instruct any more this is the perfect time to build up your hours to 1500 and go to chq. Why pay for multi when you have a dumb "towel head" who will buy it for you
