Amen!!!!!svcta said:Hey, Platinum,
Tipping in this country is getting out of control.
Hmmmm, 2000 hours.......let's see how you feel in a few years and a few thousand more hours.DAS at 10/250 said:Very professional "dude!"
You ARE being paid exactly what you are worth. Something about the conditions of long-run competitive equilibrium from econ 101.
Spoken like a gentleman and a scholar.
I agree 100%, I'll be insulted if somebody offer me a tip.DetoXJ said:I don't think it is appropriate for pilots to accept tips. We are not pizza deliverymen, valets or hotel van drivers. No matter the field, a true Professional does not accept tips. CPA's, Attorneys, Nurses, Doctors, Lawyers ect. ect., don't accept tips and neither should pilots. I have been offered tips several times and have always kindly turned them down with a thank you. Don't accept tips.....it's very tacky and unprofessional. Just my .02
Great idea, but I have one question: What about us guys who fly the boxes at night, how do we get tipped? On average, there are about 70,000+ packages sitting behind me. If I could get even one dollar per shipping customer in tips after every trip, I can't say I would complain too much.platinumclub said:Since it is customary in the US to tip almost everywhere we go, I was comtemplating why we as pilots don't get tips. I mean, people tip cab drivers, who make about twice what we make, so why not us? On your next trip while greeting the passengers, we should all join together in announcing over the PA that tips or any form of gratuity are welcome, since we don't get paid crap!
Pax have handed me plenty of $20s to give to the line guys after loading/unloading all the bags myself. I can't say it is unheard of to be tipped, but it happens a lot less than you would think for charter guys. People just has this idea that we're all rich. I remember talkign to one passengers and his jaw hit the ground when I told him the average salary of a Lear FO.prattzl said:Charter guys flying lears get tips, us guys flying 50 or more around don't. It is like the difference between limo and greyhound.
