"A possible Muslim or a possible dyke"

Spoken like a true "head up my ass" republican.

Muslims and gays contribute immensley to this great nation; which we are ALL part of.

And by the way, Senator Obama is a Christian and as American as Santa Claus, James Caan and Charleton Heston.

Another middle class defending the uber rich

The bottom 50% of the population pay 3% of the taxes. The top 5% pay 57%. Throw out all the figures and percentages you want, but the fact is the rich PAY their 'share' and will continue paying more and more of their share until this system collapses. Tax them more and guess what happens? Jobs go down the toilet. Funny how unemployment is lower now (even as we're in the sh!!ter) than under the Clinton years.

Speaking of Clinton, how about this, the top 1% earned 19% of income. That number is down since the Clinton years, looks like those evil snot nosed rich folks are making less under Bush than Clinton. Maybe we should get a Dem back in office (that way all the rich limousine-liberals can pat each other on the back and help their rich friends.)

And the middle class you ask? Or the myth about how it's shrinking, it's politics plain and simple. Wealth envy has always been a tactic of the left, it's the only way they can dupe fools into believing their crap. (The number of earners making more than 75K a year has more than tripled in the past 20 years). More people move up the income brackets than down, but the metrics stay the same in all these articles about the widening income gap.

We can go on and on with facts and figures and quotes and articles, etc, I've got enough for me to believe what I want and I doubt I'll ever change your opinion, but this I don't think anyone can argue; seldom is individual freedom ever mentioned by Democrats. It's always about what more government can do. To pay for this, it's always the evil rich that need to step up.

I am no more of a fan of Bush than you are, he has expanded government more than any other President in history. But his lower taxes have brought more revenue into the public coffers than Obama or Hillary will ever be able to do with higher taxes.

Our system of government has become so convoluted since the advent of the New Deal, that this country would be completely unfamiliar to the framers of the Constitution. Like every other successful form of government prior to ours, we will eventually falter because we've lost the desire to take care of ourselves and instead ask government to do it for us.

Unemployment got down to 4.2% during the Clinton administration. The Bushies have never gotten close.

Ok, trick question. Who am I describing in this passage I lifted from a book review?

(Blanks are mine)

....They believed in free health care and guaranteed jobs. They confiscated inherited wealth and spent vast sums on public education. They purged the church from public policy, promoted a new form of pagan spirituality, and inserted the authority of the state into every nook and cranny of daily life. The _____ declared war on smoking, supported abortion, euthanasia, and gun control. They loathed the free market, provided generous pensions for the elderly, and maintained a strict racial quota system in their universities—where campus speech codes were all the rage. The ____ led the world in organic farming and alternative medicine.

I stand corrected, I was looking at the figures from Clinton's first term which were 5.96. His second term was was 4.38.

Agreed!

I'll add:

The BS you democrats talk here is guaranteed to polarize and make us republicans not vote with you............ And in a couple of cases I'm glad I don't have to fly with you.

Oh, even better, using the US Misery Index, Clinton's average was 5.2052, Bush's so far is 5.1964...

Rez, PCL...

I'm an ALPA block rep. You have every right to plug ALPA as the solution to every problem if you'd like, and the right to plug Obama or Hillary as the pilot's saviors...

I trust John McCain more than I do those two to do what is right for the majority of Americans. I wish the Republicans were more labor friendly in some areas, but the cost of the pro-labor position of the Democrats comes at too high of a price for me--increased social spending, the abdication of personal responsibility, and the implied threat to the future of the 2nd amendment. I won't go on about the pros/cons of any of them--it won't change your mind anyway. Regardless of who is elected, I will stay very engaged politically with my local officials and will attempt to engage my senators and congressmen at every opportunity.

You guys can continue the hard sell on ALPA and the democrats here all you want...message boards are of course open forums for this type of debate. But as an observation, the unrelenting stream of pro-ALPA and pro-democrat threads you guys create only serve to undermine what I think is your ultimate goal but labeling you both as pretty one dimensional shriekers.

Occam is another *&(&& socialist, but usually offers some intellectual banter to go along with his arguments. I don't always agree, but I don't find his comments nearly as tiresome or one dimensional. You might consider reading some of his stuff as a better model.

Flame on as you see fit.
