Well, face this. There are over 30,000 different religions on christianity. We are the only one's that claim that ours comes from heaven through Christ in Vision. Is is so crazy to think that visions still happen? That new records of Christ and his teachings are coming forth still? You think all the truth that there is, is compiled in the bible that was put together by catholics some 200 years after christ. That there is no more to this gospel? Why is there so much confusion out there? Well, I'm glad that I believe in this crazy gospel because its different from everything else. It just makes sense. Being mormon only makes a person have a greater understanding of what life is all about. Just becuase its different from the confusion of religion world wide doesn't mean its wrong..nor right. Thats what I said... To know if budda is real...study budda from budda. If I was to be a Baptist I would want to know where Baptist came from and were it started and why. Same with catholics "which can be very dark through history" hindu and all the other religions. Study and read the Book of Mormon which testifies of Christ. The Christian world should be leaping for joy cause we have another testiment that testifies that Christ lived. Two testiments of christ squashes all the confusion of 30,000 different beliefs of christ. All I can say is read it cover to cover.

Im so sick of the phrase "the fact that mormons believe they can become gods" saying.... Its very simple and no secret. God is our father and we are his children here on earth. If we are his children then why can't we through probly eternity and progression become like our father. And have all that he has. Matthew says "which you will argue through misinterputation" that there are Lords many and Gods many but to us there is one God and one Lord. We have this protential and we know this to be true through a living prophet and living scripture. There are gods or worldly things but this in not referring to that.

Speaking of scripture and having a closed mind... what will you believe if the dead sea scrolls and the countless other books lost reveal more gospel truth of our savior Jesus Christ. There are many books that didn't get Compiled by The Catholics. I appreaciate that we have what we have because of them we have a ton of people with a knowlege of Christ, however I don't think that we should be so closed minded to not recieve more truth. Being mormon mostly adds to ones understanding of what they already know.

I know I shouldn't post this cause it does no good. I just have to anyways...

Just because it's the fastest growing religion in the world dosent mean it's right for everyone.
I've heard the mormons on this message board say this over and over again: "if you want to know more about mormon beliefs you shouldn't ask a baptist or a catholic, but rather a Mormon". Thats bull$hit. You don't have to be a mormon to know alot about the mormon religion. Do you have to be an Boeing engineer to understand the systems of your airplane? NO.
What do you mean by "leave the spin out of it"? I think when a person is being taught about a religion, they need be told everything. People considering the mormon religion need to be made aware of these following items, even though mormons seem to find it difficult to talk about them.

1)the fact that mormons believe they can become gods
2)that they believe god came from another planet
3)that Jesus and Satan are brothers

now you're pushing ignorant into flat out stupid. You don't want to discuss you want to argue.....hmmmm who here is more "Christian"?

Let me ask you one....does your church have a prophet? If not you are in DIRECT opposition to the Bible. You can not claim to be christian and be against the Bible. That seems to be a simple one to me...can you answer it??

Difficult to talk about?!? pfhh. As I said responses ago....I'll gladly discuss anything....but not with someone who is intent on arguing or Bible bashing. We consider these things precious and would rather not have them derogatively spoken of by someone who only knows enough to be a pain.

I would guess you believe in a god who is a floating-above-us-somewhere, nowhere-but-everywhere, 3-in-1, shapless, homeless, apparition....isn't that about right?

Just because you can't see something dosent mean it does not exist. It's called faith my friend.

Boy this just keeps getting more peculiar by the minute. Here's some interesting facts that I found out:

Regarding the mormon belief in different levels of heaven.
"The Mormon church teaches there are three levels of heaven. Telestial where unbelievers go, Terrestrial for religious people who aren't Mormons and for Mormons who have not met all the requirements and finially Celestial, for Mormons who have kept ALL of the laws and ordinances of their church. What will the celestial heaven supposedly be like for a good Mormon? He will be a god, he will rule over a planet with his wives and spirit children. "

Regarding the mormon belief that Jesus and satan are brothers.
"The spirit of Jesus Christ was the first spirit born to God the Father and his wife (Heavenly Mother). He progressed to become a God under the Father. (The Father is also the literal father of Jesus' body in the exact same way we were begotten by our earthly parents.) He now has a body of flesh and bones, but no blood. He is the spirit brother of Satan whose spirit was procreated in the same way as Jesus'. Along with Jesus Christ, all of us are viewed as the children of God, his literal spirit children. This makes us all - Mormons, non-Mormons, Jesus Christ and Satan are spirit brothers"

You've got to be kidding me with this one. Is this suggesting that I was a spirit before I was even born? Who has the time to sit down and dream up this stuff!!
"The Mormon teaching that our spirits (Mormons and non-Mormons) were procreated in a premortal life by God the Father and our Mother in Heaven, that our spirits were born and raised to maturity before coming to earth to obtain physical bodies, and that the spirit of Jesus Christ was the first one born to our Heavenly parents."

Here's the biggest shocker of all. This suggests that God had sexual relations with Mary, thus created Jesus. "A concept negated by the view that God, a resurrected man with flesh and bones according to Mormon teachings, literally fathered Jesus in the flesh in the same way in which earthly men father their children. Despite the documented position of previous Mormon prophets, presidents, and apostles about the nature of Christ's conception, modern LDS apologists maintain that "Christ was born of a virgin". How can they? By changing the definition of the word "virgin". The reasoning goes like this: since Mary had sexual relations with an immortal man, not a mortal man, the phrase "virgin birth" still applies."

This is true except for the "wives" part....we do not practice polygamy..you should know that by now.

Right again. We do not, however teach that Heavenly Father had sexual relations w/ Mary. We know she was a virgin but gave birth to Jesus. How that was accomplished doesn't concern me. To quote Christ from the Bible...."My ways are not your ways."

Well apparently the prophets from the Bible. Life before our existance here is spoken of several times in the Bible. Yes, we use the King James version...another thing you should know by now.

Like I said. We believe Christ was born of a virgin mother, Mary. How that happened is up to God....He has power to do all things. We do not teach the specifics of the "conception" of Christ's earthly body.

Well, That's what I believe... Hope that doesn't hurt your feelings. By the way...since you have no revelation nor a prophet, it would be impossible for you to know such sacred things. I pitty the under achiever who doesn't think he can be more than he is right now.

Only on this Web site could a guys request for things to do on layover turn into a religious argument...I still think he should try skiing or boarding at Snowbird....

Between the two of us, there was never a doubt in the existance of God so there's nothing to prove. Every religion (that I'm aware of) believes in some sort of a "god"

three levels of heaven ?

thanks for the good laugh my mormon friends.

Yeap, good stuff.

I had a Mormon tell me one time that my father (who had passed away less then a year prior) was in "Spirit Prison" up in one of their heavenly tiers, and he'd remain there "Until he gives in and is converted by one of the Mormons that are up there for the purpose of converting lost souls."

My father spent his whole life in church, and was active up till the morning he passed away. To hear that was one of the most insensitive and insulting things I've ever been told.

Very classy...

You kidding me right? I would kick his ass right there....

Bottom line is this = Your friend should not have said that. It is not up to us to decide or pass judgement on someone else. Where your dad is or will be is up to him and God.

Having said that we do believe there is only one church here on earth at this time that possesses all the teachings and powers necessary to perform acts (baptism, blessings, sacrament, etc.) in His name. That's our message....its up to you to decide if you believe it or not.

If you believe that Heavenly Father is "happy" with the thousands of different religions in the world then explain to me why the 1st thing Christ did when he started his earthly ministry was to call his apostles, set up His church, and then instruct these 12 men EXACTLY how to run the church. He also charged them with traveling through the country and correcting people who were teaching false doctrine or running thier churches contrary to Christ's set way.

As I have said several times now, you will NEVER see the LDS church bad mouthing a different religion. One of our most fundamental beliefs is the right every man has to worship who, where, or what they may.

You folks are the ones who seem to enjoy trying to bash others who don't believe as yourself.

by the way homie....your avatar, while trying to be rude, is actually a compliment. Thanks.
Word homie :pimp:... you've commented on the avatar twice now already!

I've received 4 or 5 PM's from LDS members complaining about it, saying its disrespectful, and is poking fun at your religion, and I need take it down.

Take it how you'd like. ;)

uncle -

Thanks for your constructive replies. Tell me this though, how can you believe god is from another planet? I bet God is really happy with that one. And tell me more about those 3 stages of heaven?
