As an innocent bystander on furlough during this mess, I just want to thank all the AMR pilots for finally standing up to the continual degradation of this profession!
It may not end pretty, but the actions these guys have taken in the face of adversity is absolutely amazing and admirable. We all owe our collective "future" contracts to these men and women who have stood proud and defied what is likely to be an ugly barrage by the media and company alike.
I for one, though I may never see the benefits, appreciate what you have done for the future pilots of this industry.
I'll be watching from my lofty retirement perch as this all plays out, but know that my prayers and well-wishes are for a better future...for all pilots!
Really? AMR pilot group was one of the first to take pay cuts and start the down ward movement. Get a clue.....
If you're not in this profession then you don't understand how far the AA pilots are sticking their necks out for this. You don't have to start over at zero if your airline fails, but pilots do.
Well, AA pilots will get the chance to start at the bottom very soon.

Is that what you are hoping for?
They own the means of labor. Pilots are EASILY replaced.
J. Otto,
Kind of hard to run an airline with no pilots and I am not sure AMR can find 7500 of them in short order.
Managers, well that's pretty easy, heck even CEO's are easy, particularly since apparently one doesn't even have be qualified at the job.

" I haven't seen what AA is offering. What specifically is so bad about the new deal? " - G4Dude
After all your pontification on the subject, you then admit you have not even taken the time to educate yourself on the situation?
Wow.
And now for the obligatory F.I. Personal Attack(s) :
I'm not sure who's MORE Effed-up here....G4, or those of you who have been going round and round with him.
Keep up the good work here Men, the future of AA and the Free World depends on it...!
Whine
While technically true, those AMR pilots would NEVER walk off the job.
I was not careful enough when asking my question. What I meant was, what specifically are the AA people upset about?
While technically true, those AMR Executives would NEVER walk off the job. Someone has to make those country club, yaht and mistress payments.... even if they have to shuttle to the headquarters with their johnson btwn their legs... and at half the pay - they will be more than happy (read:grateful) to manage AAs metal.
