I think the video is accurate historically. If I were at Airtran I would be looking at the precedents here. Frontier got hosed by a self serving union president. They never knew a thing until the deal was rejected. Had they voted it might have gone down differently. Then again, maybe not based on the FI posts by the Frontier guys. Muse, which was acquired by SWA and became Transtar holdings, got hosed (by ALPA). They rejected SWAPA's offer and Herb operated them as a wholly owned subsidiary and drew them down. Morris is the only one who went along, and they made out well. They got stapled and are all happy campers at SWA now. If I'm an Airtran guy right now, I'm thinking "Let's get all we can, but don't piss this away." I wish the best to both sides. No one wants to get a raw deal, and I think most of us feel for the other guy's position. At the end of the day though, AT pilots have to ask themselves is it really worth losing the whole deal? On the street vs. pay protected at SWA with better benefits, 401k, more days off, huge pay raises for most, and on and on? ALPA may well kill the golden goose like they did with Muse. Arbitration or mutually agreed to SLI may not be the only two possible outcomes here. The video is an accurate historical demonstration of how that has gone in the past.

This is true.

I for one don't care one way or another about the video. It's clear to me that it's primary purpose is to make AirTran pilots anxious about the future. While it may be "just the facts", I don't see what purpose it serves other than what I stated. What purpose does it serve if you're a a Southwest pilot? None really. If your an AirTran pilot then it makes you wonder what our future "Brothers and Sisters" really want out of all of this. No info would have been way better than this "info". My advice to SWAPA (not that they give a rats a$$ what I think), try the "spoonful of sugar" approach, you will see more of us willing to listen. So far, your actions our no different than our own "BMT".

Music, I understand. I think what the video states is facts this is not a merger. Only till Soc does the list come together. We SWA folks have been saying this for months. This is a buy out. This vid was put out to show the process. It will be up to GK. If he wants to complete the merger he can, if not then he won't. The video was not put out to scare, but to show fact. All the AT guy's have said this a merger with swa. It is not. I thought all the AT guys read the SEC filings. This has been fact for months. Nothing has changed. All the video shows is a graphical pic of the process. Yall should call GK and ask him. We are just pilots along for the ride. Been saying it for months.

Music,

Didn't they do what you are encouraging already with a lavish party with all the trimmings, hugs and kisses? All I heard afterwards is how SWAPA was trying to set y'all up. Is every move by everyone always one to bend you over?

I'd trade spots with you in a second, dude.

And that's the Crux of it. It's not intimidation- but AT is arguing over their extra benefits of this merger-
I've said it before- don't be a part of SWA, and on either side, get to a point you think you got screwed- especially w/ ALPA having no great reason to facilitate this in a smooth manner...

There are thousands upon thousands begging and hoping to be at the bottom of the combined list-

That ought to keep everyone in perspective-

The problem is that those thousands did not include most of the AirTran pilots. Most of them seem happy with working at AirTran and were not thinking about starting over on the SWA list.
Maybe that should be kept in perspective.

Good luck!

And certainly none of those thousands are current SWA pilots, so touché....
But it still makes me feel lucky and grateful- and it ought to have that same effect on AT guys.
Sorry- but fighting the good fight is dumb in this scenario. Might win points for ALPA- but I promise you, it will not do your career justice.

Well, Auburn fan, while you may have been very happy working at AT, another fact is they will soon not exist. SO, maybe you should be looking at your next best shot. I hear US air is taking apps. I will personally write you a LOR. interested, war eagle?
