I love it how the thread has turned from some what a heated debate, to AM's vs PM's.Lol!
Don't jinx it, it's finally calming down... ;)

I love PM's but I commute, plus I have a weird AM body clock. The pm people are more chill. I have flown with some high strung peeps on AM's. I'm like dude go take a hit of the bong and quit trying to micro manage the whole airline. I just like getting my day done and having time to do some R and R
Same way, my body wakes me up at 7 a.m. Central Time no matter how early or late I hit the rack, and I like to be home at the end of my trip, not stuck in base trying to figure out which hotel isn't full...

Otherwise, I'd rather fly evenings where you can stay up late and have a good time, get up at a decent hour, work out, get a good meal, and start my day around noon or so, just like home. Unfortunately, our trips start early and end late with those long layovers somewhere. Definitely looking forward to more AM/PM oriented trips where it's at least commutable on one side.

Also looking forward to not having a 3 day backed up to a day trip. The MCO bid packet SUCKS next month. Flying 4 days and forced to get a hotel in the middle in base... why not just make it a 4-day trip? (I know the answer, 80% of the MCO base lives in base and they can go home in between trips). Oh well... what can ya do? Hopefully there will be something in SAP to trade into, 'cause God knows you can't do it with Daily open time. At least I got the 4th off. :)

Because your scheduling guys are now our guys and they figured how to turn two perfectly good two days into one suck ass four day with either 12 hours at home or the need for a hotel. Better yet, a turn after a three day, same deal=4 day in anyones book.

Unfortunately there will be a lot more pain to come. Save this post because I promise when Herb is completely gone things are going to change. I don't want it to happen but judging from recent events SWA is going to have to make some tough decisions and we all are going to suffer.

As long as herb lives, nothing will change. After....... I promise you, things are going to change and WE will not be happy. Fortunately for me I am used to it (airline number 4), for the military to SWA it will be tough. SWA has a big cost problem and the most efficient way to get to 15%roic goes against everything herd stands for, but not GK.

Not really. Herb would have furloughed and cut pay if he had too. How far the pilot group would bend on a paycut is the undecided factor.

Not going to need a paycut when Delta gets their SWA plus contract, when dispatchers just received a 38% pay increase, when FA's get more money for less work ala the 800, when the CEO takes home a pay increase of 30-50%. Pilots pay is pretty safe for the time being. Nuke Iran, and all bets are off.

Hmmm where and when has that been said before? United in 2000 comes to mind, delta in 01. Pain is comming, top in pay for ramp, F/A's, the best sick policy in the industry that is being abused To the point it is the number one priority for the company. If you can't see that the gravey train is pulling in the station then the cool aid is thicker than I thought.
