Copy the cool down. We have the same issue on the 717s. I believe our 737 guys are approved to shut them down right after landing. Not sure how that works. Maybe we're spending our fuel money on more engine mx....

SE taxi is huge at the bluejet. The problem is we save the company a ton of money but all they do is line their own pockets and jack our healthcare, have the worst retirement, LTD, etc of any major.

The procedure is; as long as you use normal power settings (not super gusty) and idle reverse ( 7500ft + runway, no tailwind) you can shut one engine down after landing. Shutting the engine down does not take precedence over ATC instructions, holding short of active runways nor are you required to shut it down if you think you'll need it for crossing a landing runway, contaminated taxiways, tight turns/maneuvering.

I talked with an Asst CP and a Ckeck Airman and they both said that single engine taxi from the gate and into the gate is coming, there is just to many changes happening now to change the taxi procedure as well. After leaving the gate the F/O will start the 2nd engine when we are 2-3 minutes from takeoff. After landing the procedure will be the one that humveedriver described.

Good news! More money for profit sharing checks. :)

What are you guys hearing about the 717s? We hear they may be in play again, sooner.

What are we hearing? We're hearing that you're nothing but a flame baiting troll.

But if you want actual facts, listen to CFO Laura Wright from last week's conference:

"They (the B717s) are on lease with Boeing, and we are comfortable with the terms we have on those leases. If there was an opportunity that made sense from an economic stand point to reduce that fleet, we would certainly look at it, but we currently have the intent to continue to operate that fleet. With 88 airplanes, we feel like we can do it efficiently and economically."

I don't think OYS knows what public negotiations look like. In this case Boeing and SWA.

Boeing also may owe an airline millions for late fees for a certain widebody. Air India is asking for $500 million now from Boeing for the same plane type. Your CFO announced a possible loss, and these rumors come up. I heard our guy at the same conference said regarding a question about those 717s "no comment.". That might say A LOT. Just asking..... Maybe you would replace them one for one with 737s?

Godspeed!

Any chance of not responding to OYS at all? Group effort.

You don't have to respond, but the rumors are out there. Btw, I don't wish anything bad on anyone. Eventually your 717s will be replaced, hopefully one for one with 737s. Maybe we can get them afterwards.

Godspeed!
