From an official source this morning:

There were two 'let go' from that class . . . one civilian, one military (sorry Clown). This is highly unusual . . . normally one every couple of years.

550-ish newhires this year (that would mean roughly 300 more after tomorrow's class. Three classes confirmed for August.

115 flights/day in DEN by Nov.

Any idea what the other two class dates are for August after the 6th?

FWIW, my bud was called for the Aug 6th class and was told that it was the only class during August.

Many pilots may wonder how a more than 6,000 pilot total is possible given the slow growth we have experienced over the past several months in comparison to recent years. We started the year expecting to net only seven additional aircraft for all of 2008. Normally this would result in the hiring of about 80 more pilots.
With unanticipated growth in DEN, we will now be netting a total of 17 aircraft this year. Further, we are expecting to add 14 more aircraft in 2009 — the majority of which will arrive in the first five months of the new year.
Because of all this and some other factors, SWA Crew Planning expects the 2008 New Hire total to exceed 500 pilots. Roughly half are being brought on board to cover new aircraft deliveries, including the first quarter 2009 projections. About one-fourth of the New Hires will help mitigate First Officer JAs, increases in military and medical leaves of absence and improvements to the planned pilot schedule.
The remaining one-fourth is to prepare for training pulls associated with Phases II and III of RNP training (currently set to begin in the spring of 2009). Phase II is expected to last six months followed by Phase III for an additional 12 months. As Phase III comes to a close, there may be some aircraft deliveries that will not be preceded by new hire classes since we will be technically over-staffed at the completion of training.
Hopefully, there will be enough aircraft deliveries to mitigate the negative effects of transitioning out of the initial RNP training. The good news is that there should be a steady string of New Hires coming online through the beginning of next year. Please remember that this is the plan as of this week. As nimble as Southwest Airlines tends to be, you never know exactly how things may change.

What's the real story w/July classes? I've heard 3 classes but only see 9 and 16 July for dates. Anybody know the 3rd, if there is one?

I know 6 Aug is the only one of that month.

I have buddies already confirmed for August interviews. I think its two different weeks just like it is this month.
