With that system of interviewing, and what they said at Higher Power, they are trying to paint a picture to the decision board of you from your stories. It really doesn't seem like there is that much time each month to present the differences of each pilot to the board. A lot of stories to relay about a lot of people in a short amount of time. No one seems to know the method of their madness, except that more come back a second time than get hired the first time around. Waiting for the first go around!

Let's talk more #'s. 4500 hours/1381 posts=3.26:1 ratio. dude, logging captain time at the controls of the FBO golf cart won't help get you out of that lonely hole you crawled out of.

Dick,

I understand the frustration bro, but what's the alternative? Stay awake at the FEDEX grip and grin and you're in? Who knows - but I still like the interview/decision board proces at SWA. Much pilot input.

By the way, in "satpak" thinks we're the same dude. In case you're reading in pak-man, I left you a private note 'xplainin' things, like where Dick and Ben are coming from.

Off safe,

Ben

8 days

Eight days never seemed so long.

What is the quickest anyone is called after the DB? I know they have changed their tactics a little recently and wait for the letters to get out. So what is the average time now, 4-5 days?

Wasting time:

Watching the Sunday talk shows so I don't have to think about the DB.

Surfing flightinfo.com because I am afraid of getting struck by lightning while fishing. TS in ATL.

My DB was on a Thursday. Didn't get the call till Tuesday Morning. I don't know what there order is but it seems alphabetical going by what my buddies and I have experienced. Friend of mine got the call on Sunday night and his last name starts with an A. I am near the end of the alphabet. Who knows though.

That Tuesday morning after seeing all of the people on flightinfo.com getting the call, I just knew the letter was coming. It didn't. There are posts on other threads where people were called as late as the Wednesday after.

There is nothing anyone can say to make it better except for a Chief Pilot or a People Dept person.

WHOO HOO 100 POSTS!!!!

Still aspiring to the century mark......

3-5 business days. Agonizing.

I wonder if I can keep my eyes away from email and flightinfo so as not to hear all the people that get calls before I do. :)

My last name is only a few letters in, so I might be a little stressed around the 19th/20th of May without a call. Yikes.

Two weeks. Bleh... Two weeks to find out if I can get a job with the company that I have been trying to work for eight years. Non-pilot in about 1998, Pilot in '04 and now in '06. The last two years have been rough (wah! :bawling:), mostly thinking about what I did, but also the 800+ seniority numbers that I could have behind me. Ouch. But the thought that kills would be a letter of rejection. That would really hurt. I am trying to put that thought aside.

Keeping time:

Pushing my 13 month old around and around on his "tractor"

Reading the Little Gecko book another time. For him. Well, it is a good book.

Man, 3-5 more days added to the existing 8!! Aarrg! I have to find something to do to keep the voices out of my head.... I think I'll go windsurfing tomorrow and or hit the beach, check out some bikinis...

Seriously, page 3. Come on!

I hope everyone waiting is doing well and weathering this crazy process better than I. I have found that nothing can distract me from the looming decision board. Good Luck.

sorry if this has already been discussed in this thread, but have any of you waiting on this DB had your references called? i interviewed last week and am quite curious what the current trend is on that note....thanks and good luck everyone!

I interviewed on 4/12. References were called on 4/17. Looks like the board meets the week of 5/15. The wait is killing me!!!

I had the interview on May 8th. Does anyone know if our group will make this next DB?

May PDB. When?

xcrjdriver, I interviewd the day before you did, 11 April. From whom did you hear that the PDB was next week, the week of the 15th? Had a old Navy SWA captain who thought it was today. Cheers.

A friend of mine who is a FO at SWA thought that the board was on 5/15 or 5/16. He was not 100% sure. Hope it was today that would shorten the waiting period. Hope to see ya in Dallas.

Decision Board meet tomorrow!

OK so I thought I'd bump this up one more time..... Also, Sunday Mothers Day, tomorrow the game begins. The decision board meets, lets hear it from the guys/girls that get the call and when you interviewed (or a letter, which we all hope not). That way we can see if there is some sort of pattern when our interview class might be up for review.... With them ramping up interviews, a large number of retirees, more planes and needing more pilots, the percentage has gone up....Good luck all. Wes

This week's trips to the mailbox are going to add a few points to the old blood pressure. Good luck everyone.

Tick Tock, its almost time.

So, anyone with a guess as to the day people start getting calls? Is Friday too soon? Saturday?

Did anyone confirm if the DB is two days or just one day?

still more time:

driving around central texas looking at zebras, rhinos, giraffes, ostriches, etc. (Really! :))

Nada...

Nothing yet for me, but I think they have recently switched to calling people several days after the DB so the letters arrive about the same time.

Apr 19, 2006 interview
No Refs called
First interview Apr 2004

killin' time:

chopping down the mailbox so I can't possibly get a letter.:angryfire
staring at the little polar bear "buddy" on my cell phone while waiting for a call.

No word.

killin' time:

sittin in your car in visitor parking at HDQ all day to see if you can spy one of the HR folks walking to the mailbox with those horrid little letters.

hiding in the mailbox to intercept those letters.

I am going to take a nap and then go fishing, I can't take this much longer!

Someone on another aviation site just said he/she got the call from one of the chief pilots, I'm waiting for a response to find out when he/she interviewed and or had their recommendations called.

Not trying to add to the anxiety, but I thought you all might want to know that a buddy of mine got the call this morning. He interviewed the first week of April. Best of luck to all!

They interviewed second week of April, and had recommendations called the following Tuesday.

Got the call from the BAL chief pilot at 215pm today. Cant believe they called so soon. Interviewed 4/12. Refs called 4/17. As for me I need to get the type so I might be in the pool longer than most.
VERY excited they called cant wait until training.
They called 3 of us so far that interviewed on 4/12.
