Good for you and MegaD on your B-fund. I hope the both of you are bazillionairs someday. We don't need nor want a B fund. I think that retiring with 5-8 million bones in the bank is plenty. You'll just get more speeding tickets in fancier cars and pay more taxes on more/bigger houses. We are content with ESOP, 401k, and thousands annualy on profit sharing. But if you need more, than great.
We luv our hillbillies, they have been contributing to our 30+ years of profits very nicely.
Hay, if you like 1-2 legs a day/night than great. UPS is for you. I find 5-8 hour legs, 3 hour sits, and 80 overnights BORING. If you wanna be a pilot and work for a living and fly 3-8 legs a day than SWA is the place to be. We are fabulously paid "commuter" pilots.
I have been on line for 1 month and have 110 pilots under me. Will have 500 by 2007. 60 more planes are comming in the next 2 years and life is good. Upgrade should come back down to 5 years. I along with many other pilots have been treated like gold since the day I applied. I had a flower arrangment sitting on my doorstep when I came home from the hospital with a new baby. I hope UPS pilots have the same relationships with thier pilots. How do you suppose the folks that just got kicked out of the pool feel? I sincerely hope we grow wisely, cautiously and smartly and can find a way to pay our fuel bills in the next few years. I have no reason to believe that Kelly and friends will not be able to take SWA into 30 more years of profits and growth. Hopefully we can find a way to do it with ATA's fine group of pilots. I am sure UPS will post profit numbers that far exceed anything SWA could ever dream of, however I believe my little airline from Texas will provide me with a nice future, career, and a way to put my kids thru college. If SWA does not make it, then I will be able to say, "What a ride it was."
I hope the best for both companys.

I read somewhere that the only reason we dont fly into Jersey is because the hubcaps on our planes would get stolen.

age quicker...you got it wrong again...since i average about 240 hrs a year block and u average probably 1000 and every 2 hours of flight is considered equivalent to 1 chest x-ray, u will be long gone before me....but i hope not because those hillbillies still need rides to LIT for the monster truck shows and all the wrastlin!!!

ADDING IT UP. The reason: No matter how many espressos night workers might belt back, their bodies are telling them it's time to sleep just when their employers need them to be the most productive. Graveyard-shift workers make five times as many serious mistakes and are 20% more likely to suffer severe accidents, Circadian found. Those on the overnight shift also have a significantly higher incidence of costly diseases and disorders, costing employers billions.

This is no surprise to occupational health pros, who have done their own studies on work and fatigue. They show that the fatigue that comes from staying up too late, or for too long, routinely leads workers to go easy on the exercise. Night workers also seem to eat more fatty foods during their 3 a.m. lunches. Obesity and diabetes rates are higher among overnight-shift workers, according to Circadian. All-night workers tend to have heart disorders at rates 40% higher than those of workers on dayside shifts.

Social costs are also high. Night shifters don't go home, have dinner, watch TV, and then go to bed the way nine-to-fivers do. When the sun comes up, they still have to function in a world that's largely unaware they're running on fumes after working all night.

LIKE BEING DRUNK. This disruption in life's routines might be why divorce rates are as high as 60% among all-night workers, and why they have 150% more stress-related gastrointestinal disorders. Health-care coverage adds a further $28.8 billion to the corporate bill, according to Circadian.

Damn, just added it up. I have 12.5 chest x-rays comming this weekend.
As far as monster truck shows go. Don't knock it til ya try it. If you can go to a combo of tractor pull and monster truck show, you're gonna have a great night. Eat sme Whataburger before the show and take some Banana moon pies to snack on so you dont have to buy the expensive stadium food. Full Pull baby!! Full pull!!

(Los Angeles, California) Two Southwest Airlines pilots have given the term cockpit a whole new meaning. A male flight attendant, summoned to the cockpit by the captain, found both the captain and the first officer buck naked.
The plane was on autopilot and there was no danger to the passengers the airline says. But, both pilot were fired.
"Southwest Airlines conducted a thorough investigation and terminated the two pilots involved for inappropriate conduct," says spokeswoman Ginger Hardage, who would not elaborate. Southwest "will not tolerate any inappropriate or offensive behavior."
Hardage refused to say where to plane had taken off from, or where the Boeing 737 was headed. Nor would she say if the two men were in their own seats.
The pilots have appealed, saying they had spilled coffee on their uniforms .The president of Southwest's pilots association, Capt. Ike Eichelkraut, would say only, "It's an internal matter."
The Federal Aviation Administration says there's no specific prohibition against flying naked.


this does not help deter radiation!
