Hi FA's, Im a Captain with a 121 airline and it would be nice that if FA's are jumpseating (even if its cabin only), to say hi to one of the crew members when they come onboard. You are crewmembers just like pilots - show ID, and jumpseat form to one of the crew members when you come on board as a courtesy for traveling for free (or nearly free). There is an airline out there (cough AA cough) where their airline training doesn't state this to them and they just casually stroll on board and have a seat. Pilots notice this and do not appreciate it.

However, I'm not saying all FA's do this - just from my experience, I have seen this happen on multiple flights.

Well it been my experience its better if they just take their seats especially if they are not familiar with your a/c. If you want a date try Match.com

And for they guy that said the j/s seat was sold on safety I think history would show the opposite. J/S was sold as Capitan's privilege and most management and some line pilots felt it was unsafe.

So for all you pro introduction people, does this just go for FA's and pilots? And if so why? What about the all the non revvers flying for free. Why shouldn't they introduce themselves, after all they flying for free as well. Rampers, mechanics, gate agents etc etc.

As I have said before, don't bother me! If you have been appropriately assigned a seat, board like all the rest of the passengers. I don't want to meet you, I don't care who you are, and I don't want to engage in the incessant small talk that so many of you social butterfly's seem to live for. If I have said it once, I have said it 1000 times...DONT BOTHER ME!! Sit down and shut up!!

That time of the month, pipejockey?
I think I'd be downright frightened to pop my head in your cockpit just to say hi. :erm:

And you guys wonder why they (f/a's) aren't sure what they are supposed to do when jumpseating. YOU don't even know what you want them to do. 3 pages of whining and no final decision. You sound like a bunch of old women worrying yourselves over something pretty trivial.

For what it is worth, many airlines teach their FA's when jumpseating to introduce themselves to the Lead FA on the flight and if the lead directs them to go introduce themselves to the captain to do so...but to never just head to the flight deck on their own! So many times your own lead FA's are telling them to just take their seat. So on a 1900 I guess it could be a little confusing for some what they should do.
