FG, everyone seems to have an opinion about unions. And really, who's to say who's right? Obviously, nothing anyone says here, or anywhere else, will change your mind.
And based on my experience with unions (so far, NJA is the only union I've ever been a part of) I'm thinking they aren't so bad. So nothing you, or anyone else, says is going to change my mind.

That's fine.

But here's a question for that really big brain of yours: In spite of what we see in the news about our economy, our country still enjoys one of the highest standards of living in the world. Translation: people are still making good wages and decent benefits (although that is slowly being eroded and becoming of greater concern for the average working American). So my question is, what, in your opinion, effect have unions had on our country's prosperity and standard of living? Do you think we'd be doing this well without them? Or worse? Maybe better? Is it possible they've helped raise the standards? (ala the CS and Flex raises that 'coincidentally' happened shortly after our contract ratification). Why did labor unions come to exist? Was it a bunch of overpaid, greedy factory workers just trying to put the screws to their companies? Did it have anything to do with the fact that the average working American family used to have to send their KIDS to work in the factories just to make ends meet? I wonder what we, at NJA, would be making right now without our union. We certainly know what it was when we only had a weak union.

You know, there's good and bad in everything. Not just unions. But certainly there are some unions out there that may be on a power trip, or just plain greedy. Or perhaps just ineffective. But in my opinion, when looking at the big picture, they are a good thing.

PS- Just to keep this thread at least a little on track, I have routinely scored well over 130 on different IQ tests. And who the heck cares?! High IQ's don't mean you know how to use that intelligence (ie: domiciles were to allow more direct airlining. Doh!)

You have correctly stated FamilyGuys assertion. IF his IQ score was 120 and he was willing to pay $100 per point, that would be 100*120 = $12,000 not $1200.

However, FG did not say that. You quoted him after all. Read it again. Gunfyter said he would pay $100 for every point difference between himself (at 140) and FamilyGuy (at 152).

152-140 = 12
12* $100 = $1200

This is the amount FamilyGuy suggested gunfyter owed FamilyGuy due to the 12 point difference in their IQ's. At 152, FG is well into the top 1%.

Take it from a 1 percenter. You missed the point.
