To all Spirit Pilots: Thank you for standing up for our profession. Its about time someone had the courage to take a stand. Hopefully those of us at Airtran who are most likely next will show as much unity and resolve as you guys did and begin to restore some of the pay and benefits that I thought this job entailed when I signed on 10 years ago. My hat is off to you.

With that said, are there no details of any kind to put out nearly a week after returning to work? If not, when are you being told that you may have something to put to a vote?

As a Spirit pilot...I am almost certain that we let everyone down.

We have ZERO details regarding any part of the TA...only rumor and speculation. The MEC's war cry during the last several months has been "pay parody" we will not see that this year or by the end of the contract (according to rumor) and with ZERO details coming and it has been a week now (well 6 days) I am starting to think the MEC sold out the pilot group and we will be the guys who walked off the job to come back for the same pay and worse work rules.

In the spamec-fastread of 6/19 it was suggested that we "not allow speculation or spin to undermine our hard fought unity."

Patience is important here. The MEC still has a lot of work to do to get the document out to all of us.

Well I hope that is not the case. I will continue to hope for the best.

Well, if the Spirit pilots aren't happy with the TA, you vote it down, go back to the mediator, and go from there. One would hope that the pilots of Spirit made it clear to their MEC as to what their expectations were, who then directed the negotiators, who then brought back to the MEC what the pilot group demanded.

Maybe you guys got an acceptable contract and they're just working on final language before they release it. That could take several days if there were a lot of areas of the contract negotiations that were open with no final language before that final agreement was reached.

You seem to have won a leading contract that needs to have language to make it clear what it is. Don't start attacking your MEC, let them finish the language. Leaving it vague is a very bad idea.

If you vote it down, you go right back on strike, right? Hopefully they wrote that into the return to work agreement. Or does it go without saying?

Pulling down the lines prior to an acceptable and ratified TA was foolish.

Just because you broke my chops on the other thread about words, it is parity. Parody is a better description of what ALPA may deliver.

In this day with this fancy interweb whats it and all...it takes almost no time to send an email with 4 or 5 bullet points and the pay PARITY scales the MEC beat their chests to.

Also you will please note that I included ZERO speculation or spin in my post...and I can just leave it to the MEC to undermine our hard fought unity by not issuing any communication, other than the VARS about speculation and spin and also the new VARS about the TA being available during the road shows on the 28th.

Really? It is not a quick process to ratify a TA. I would think several weeks before the vote is closed. They have not even started the roadshows yet.

It will take a while to get contract language and have road shows etc. Ending the strike without the MEC even publishing a summary of the TA and at least taking a straw poll of what pilots think was foolish. I suspect it won't be so easy to strike again if needed.

If the Spirit pilots were doing their job as union members, and the MEC was doing their job representing the pilots, there's no need for a "straw poll" as the MEC should have been made aware of the Spirit pilots' demands/desires BEFORE negotiations took place. Certainly there were surveys, union meetings, phone calls, e-mails, etc., to one's representatives to convey pilot wishes over the months/years?

Again, I think this "in limbo" situation some pilots are criticizing is a "no win" decision for the Spirit MEC. If the Spirit MEC had stayed out on strike while they worked out the final language for a contract when an agreement "in principle" was had, all the ALPA bashers would be out criticizing ALPA for leaving all of their pilots out on the picket line, further damaging the airline in the eyes of the public, not collecting a paycheck, etc., when in essence a TA has already been agreed to between management and ALPA. The MEC brought down the strike, got (hopefully) what the pilots will find acceptable, and are likely just working out final language for release to the pilot group.

Have any of the Spirit pilots tried calling/e-mailing their reps to find out what's going on?

I think what the spirit pilots are fearing is the past history of ALPA. It does seem a little strange that there is ZERO official information out on the what the TA contained.

What the pilots are afraid of, is the TA coming out, and not being what they went on strike for. Being hoodwinked by their own alpa. I know I know, alpa would NEVER do that.

Now if the t/a comes out, and it contains the majority or all or is close to what the pilots find acceptable in meeting their demands. Then alpa will or would have been right in calling down the strike.

I guess we'll see when the details are released.

Did ALPO finally get it right.......or did the screw the pooch again?

Ahh....didn't realize you were one of those anti-ALPA guys. The ones that misspell ALPA are my favorite. Sorry I posted now.

I will be the first to say, it has been verified by the MEC, 3k for Captains and 7k for FO's signing bonus. No retro, No overides (night, international is still same BS). NO MORE PER DIEM FOR OUT AND BACKS!! Pay increase of 10% for Captains, 18% for FO's. $0.20 increase in per diem, no international per diem. Training department keeps their lucrative pay, FO's will always be below Allegiant, JetBlue, Airtran for full length of contract by a longshot. 66 per hour 3 year pay, 4 year 69 an hour!! One single sick bank now. Still have 4 day off between pairings. Reserve has a convoluted system of periods. Senior FO's make out the best. Health care costs increase from 8%-15% depending on situation. No overtime premium pay, straight pay for all hours worked. Did I miss any of the key points of this crap TA? I am sickened to think I put my job on the line for this! Why did we even strike, we were promised pay parity or shut it down! I was ready! So was everyone else. VOTE NO!! This TA is in the "Spin machine" right now, of course they won't let you see it! Get ready for them to sell it to us all. To my fellow pilots: I am sorry we have let you down and I am embarrassed over this TA! VOTE NO!
