And this part should excite you, Flop, because there's already talk of just that--building more international gates than the five we're paying for. Hobby authorities are already looking forward to a larger international footprint. That should make you feel better.

I am aware Latin and South American carriers want in. No codeshare to worry about with you guys. They get to drop off and pick up their customers while you fly them around the US. Heck of an opportunity for them. It does screw up the City though.

I'm a real Boeing fan, so this pains me to say it, but the Airbus really smokes a 737 in this arena. (The difference is in the belly)

Because that's what it seems like. In reality, your whining about Southwest is just that--whining. Whining because you really just don't want competition south of the border from a large competitor.

Are you really that large? Seriously, you've been using Hobby since day 1, and you really aren't any bigger deal than another competitor. What you are a threat to is fair and controversy free business. The whole deal in DFW is exhausting! And unfortunately you want the same thing for Houston.

Win/lose/draw, whatever. United is apart from it. We aren't short on large international airports. Our passengers will go wherever. SWA building these little boutique style international terminals? Frankly, best of luck to you. We know what Houston expects from you to call it a success. And it calls for you to do far more than you've managed to so far.

And also BS about Love Field. We never "kept other airlines" from coming back to Love. Just because you keep saying it, doesn't make it true. It's been debunked multiple times........

That's a load of crap. SWA has never been more heavily invested in keeping others out. Why was DAL forcibly "removed" from LUV? Why did SWA try to lock up ALL gates at LUV? Denial ain't just a river in Egypt........

You do understand that the gates at love were controlled by American right? When AA merged with US they were forced by the GOV to give up those gates as part of the merger deal right? Or do you think SW just went and gave some Pizza to the Government and they told Delta that they have to leave?

Why do legacy pilots and their airlines have to always be the ones who end up forced to lose something? Doesn't matter if it's regional guys, LLC guys, or even govt owned foreign carrier. The legacy has the disadvantage. Getting real old.

The DOJ prevented SWA from acquiring the divested gates because they specifically desired another LCC at Love. The DOJ was very forthright with the reasons they required Love Field divestitures by American.

"But the point of the Love Field divestiture is for an LCC to offer service at the airport that even Delta recognizes is "poised to become a highly attractive option for business travelers from across the nation who will be drawn by its proximity to the Dallas city center." The acquirer of the gates will be able to offer a compelling product to sought-after business passengers who otherwise would favor New American's service out of its hub at DFW. Obtaining access to Love Field will significantly enhance the acquirer's ability to meaningfully compete against New American, thereby furthering the overall goals of the remedy."

Yeah I remember reading that Howard. American has to get rid if the gates, and Delta can't have them. UAL gets involved in any transaction that requires approval, and they'll probably lose theirs too. DOJ won't stop taking from legacies. LCCs haven't given up much in their transactions.
