I am pretty sure Airtran was looking at an asset sale with ATA. No planes or pilots. That was how it was explained to me.

I was told by a former ATA Pilot that in order to appease Mayor Daley, who wanted to ensure all ATA employees would not lose their jobs, all the pilots were offered interviews at AirTran. Of course he was told that he would not necessarily be interviewing for employment as a pilot.
