Just for clarification, Amadeus is really the best product in the industry.

The system that Airtran had was just marginally better than in-house SW system, so there really wasn't anything gained in that area of the purchase.

So we have Airtran guys hoping for a SW failure on the international launch?

"Well, except for being able to charge for bags, assign seats, operate 24 hours a day, interface with distribution systems like Orbitz and Sabre, and operate Internationally, it was only marginally better".

Fixed it for you, Red. :D:

What other airlines use Amadeus? Air France is one. Any others on US soil? GK can't get a straight answer from the g.o. they have mired themselves in their own self importance it is the proverbial emperor's new clothes week after week. Class II navigation on then off. Let's see what happens next month. Get in 30 early and still leave late. Have to make multiple calls to hook up power and air. Waiting for gate with connecting pax during late night hub and spoke out of bwi and gates available..... wait for assigned gate. Who cares if the pax make their connection? 15 % roic is a cry for help for GK. Flattish will get rammed down the throats through language in the next contract..... already getting it by delaying negotiations..... read the updates.... going nowhere.... getting up at the crack of noon.

The SWA Agents have told me that the AAI system is like the old system they used to operate. It looks like a DOS product, while the SWA system is a windows type that even the former AAI Agents tell me it is easier to navigate. The problem that I wondered was, why didn't we just use the AAI Res system. A couple of FAT Pilots told me that there was no way it could handle the volume.

And the SWA system does indeed charge for bags, just not the first or second.

Just the list. Don't shoot the messenger

From the title, I thought this would be just another runway/taxiway excursion.

Whine, the ATA certificate was surrendered years ago, but thanks for playing.

And if Darwin's theory was "just and true", you would have been squashed by a lav truck years ago.

Ty,

You are correct Sir. That fact slipped my mind as I was typing.
Nevertheless, their attempts at this acquisition/near international thing have been interesting to watch.

Now, about the jab at the end...My Brother only has nice things to say about you (?)

Do you even know Whine Lover? That takes chutzpah, bro.

There really is no "Darwinism" in business anyway, just a matter of who has the more inept/greedy/shortsighted management that causes a formerly viable business entity to fail. It is the luck of the draw. Count your blessings.
