Personally, I liked the way DAL/NWA did it. No one over there lost more than 3 or 4% seniority. That seems acceptable to me.

Anyone hired after 1995 lost between 5-12% seniority over the next 10-15 years on the NWA side, so STFU. 3-4%, I wish.

The McCaskill legislation says that any merger or acquisition of more than 49% of another airline's assets would require the merger policy of the common union to be implemented (DAL/NWA) or Allegheny-Mohawk (or maybe binding arbitration--I can't find the exact language) in the event of different unions representing the two work groups.

Anyway, the days of stapling one group outright is over. (Until they change the law...)

We need to buy Alaska just so they can run our training department. I've been up front with them and it's truly impressive. I think they fly the jet like Boeing intended. Wow- what a concept.

Wow. That's it. Makes sense now. And once again the senior dudes will prevail.

What hire date is THE junior captain at F9?

Senior is still 1994?

The Lynx boys better get ready to grab their ankles.

Gup

Bringing people on that otherwise would not meet the requirements to work here or better yet interviewed and was turned down for whatever reason, I do have a problem with.

Red Dog,

For the record....when SWA bought Morris, Morris had pilots there that had been turned down by SWA, only the Morris Capt's had a 737 type, and a couple of the Morris pilots had even been terminated by SWA.

Even the former terminated SWA pilots came with the Morris purchase. And the insurance company had no say in those Moris pilots that did not have a 737 Type.

Now that I recall, SWA mgmt did not want to re-hire those terminated SWA pilots. The Morris pilots actually stood up to SWA management and would not come to SWA without the entire Morris pilot group.

And it is because of that ...the entire Morris pilot group ended up on probation for one year.

But...they did stand up to SWA. Now if we would only stand up against the tur....errr....the TA.

TJ,

You are mistaken on your Morris history.

The Morris Chief pilot offered to fire anyone that SWA didn't want and a couple that he thought SWA wouldn't want. SWA said no.

It was Swapa that pushed the company into taking everyone and the probationary year was a given, not a punishment.

The Morris guys themselves were split between the Sierra Pacific guys and the Ryan guys (who got stapled).

Most of the Morris guys were doing back-flips to come to SWA and wouldn't have done anything to jeopardize that.

For some reason, that picture of Jesus looks familiar.

"...I was gonna #$$% you @# #@! !@#$ on saturday....I'll @##$ you #$ $% @#$ on Wed. instead...."

...About like this POS TA....Busch league BS

Everyone like to bring up the Morris deal when speaking about potential acquisitions, and get their SLI panties in a knot over imaginary deals ...but there's another past model out there. That model was when SWA acquired Muse. Discuss.

Morris and Muse both happened a long time ago. A LOT of M&A water has passed under the bridge and McCaskill/Bond has also changed the landscape appreciably. anyone that thinks we'll get away with "planes and no pilots" or "staple" needs to study up a bit.

Making sense is NOT appreciated on FI.com. Shame on you!

Why are we in Chp 11? Well, to say that Southwest didn't play a part in that is being ignorant. To say that they are the only reason, would be equally ingorant. We had years of mis-management like most airlines along with the competition and having Southwest in Denver really just accelerated things. Personally I think that SWA had hoped that Frontier would be long gone by now, and they could have a much larger and more lucrative foothold in Denver than they do now. We are still an inexpensive operation, and I am sure that it would be a quick sale.

This will come across as an a$$hole...but then why are you bankrupt?

I understand where you are coming from, but again, people must read that i also put, "to the extent they thought they could." into my statement. Sure they/you have had a hand in that process, but so did 140 oil and a small processer called first data. But in no way was SWA the sole reason we had to file. Our costs are still very low as compared to the industry, and we have made an operating profit the last three months, something only a VERY small group of airlines can say. So i would say we are pretty strong for a company many (especially on FI) had written off last summer.

I think the question is how long will southwest continue to operate at a loss in Den. I don't think its any secret that while southwest is losing money in that market f9 is actually posting a profit (minus the bankruptcy court fees). Maybe the new attitude over there is that they can't beat frontier in their market why not just take them over. They seem to have the capital to do so.

How do you know SWA is losing money in DEN?

So, Frontier is making money except for its expenses? Ok.

I think all of us are making money except for our expenses.

F9 posted an operating profit last quarter. That doesn't mean a lot though because of how much money you spend while in bankruptcy on court fees, lawyers, etc. SWA is not making money in DEN. Loads out of there are not good, and it is a very expensive market. By that rational I say SWA is not making money in DEN.

You sound pretty sure of yourself. Have you been by the SWA gates in DEN?

yup, 2 days ago, flight to SAN was wide open and f9 was oversold. This is not a swa bashing session. I like flying swa I'm just saying that f9 is not going anywhere anytime soon and it seems like this rumor could make sense.

Not to mention they could get f9 for fire sale price. The stock is worth almost nothing while the company still has value.

I'm not saying you're bashing, but just questioning your theory.
