Take it easy killer. You won, he lost, and he's leaving.

I'm more than happy to take it easy, but...
What on earth did I possibly win?
No bonus, no raise, and diluted seniority-
Yay- I feel like such a "winner"
I'm all for letting it go, but they keep bitching about a base and how they got screwed... I'm sorry you guys are forced to grow up about the reality of your career. That means both your air tran career and this industry.
Seriously- haven't you been paying attention since 9/11 to what this career can and often does throw at people?

Some things are just not worth it to some people. There is nothing wrong with that. The man has been smart enough to have a plan B. Everyone has their priorities. No need to bash someone if theirs is different than yours.

Oh I don't grudge that at all- it's all the "SWA screwed us!!!" That's so boring when so many of my friends have lost houses and marriages and have personally been bankrupted by airlines actually screwing pilots- some have had their children's lives threatened with untimely medical bills. Bases? How many do we all know that moved to Asia or the Middle East to pay the bills when the airlines decided to give real problems to pilots-
these guys are spoiled kids throwing a tantrum at Macy's

Poor Wave. Such a delicate flower.

"Many view" ....... ? Hmmmm. Do you have long round table discussions with your many like minded friends, regarding the nature of our professionalism ? Or are you merely a small minded, barely literate luddite, who stayed up well past his bedtime ?

Taking advice from you, is like taking dating advice from the happy ending care monkey guy.

I have no idea what a Luddite is-
Probably that's a guy who uses Luddite in a sentence

Seriously? Pick up a book other than Nuts.

...I... don't work for AirTran. I was just saying that it was a little harsh. I'm sorry your seniority was diluted, but- you're at an airline, you will merger with other airlines, you can't staple anymore, this is a part of the career. The good news is the company took care of their pilot group with the integration (even if you don't agree with it) and AirTran guys will probably get over it since they'll get a huge pay raise and QOL increase (as a whole).

Don't feel sorry for his "diluted" seniority. He got a relative seniority increase. He's just a whiny little entitled bitch who thinks he should have gotten even more at our expense. He doesn't have the balls to fight Gary for anything, but he's definitely willing to fight to steal from his fellow pilots.

All I'm saying is that some people's priorities come ahead of moving to Asia or the Middle East just for some flying job. Many people have other skills or business. So if his new airline shrinks the base which was the only reason to have that flying job, then good for him that at least he is true to his convictions and doesn't become some disgruntled employee working for the new airline. You have to give him credit for that and realize that he has a valid point about his base.

That is an interesting statement from somebody that did harm to this profession by paying for their job and training at gulfstream.

This coming from the side that Gary completely steamrolled.

What's that got to do with his constant mantra that SWA screwed him?

Why are you not so "vocal" on the SWAPA forum. You sure are active over there now days.

For those of us that chose not to commute and home is/was in our base, it is a pity that over the course of a year we'll be spending an extra month of nights away from home now (and for less money). I'm in my 14th year and have looked at other options. If ATL wasn't attainable in the relative near future (at least with this week's plan), I'd be seriously considering those other options and providing a spot for someone else to buy their type rating and get hired. If/when ATL closes because they can't/choose not to compete, we'll re - evaluate.

I understand, it's just that I don't think this is an industry for the geographically inflexible. I'm on my third airline and fifth base in seven years, and I was have always been a commuter. Maybe that's why I don't realize how much commuting sucks, since I've never done anything else.

I actually agree with you. I've always moved and loved the change - Five countries and numerous cities. I commuted for the majority of my career. When I finally moved to a base and drove to work, I was hooked.

It's difficult to go back. I think it's natural for people to resent any perceived lack of choice in something that's very personal.

Then your better start preaching to the under cutters at southwest who did far more harme to this industry with their PFT and lousy work rules/no retirement!

In the game of seniority integration, all bets are off. Sorry that you lost.

PFT?

Says the guy who bought just one fewer unnecessary rating for his job than a Southwest guy did. So, as for applying to an airline you're just a little less of the type of "PFT" that you like to claim for Southwest.

PLUS, you had to pay for your own housing at Delta's actual training?! That's actually a hell of a lot closer to "pay for training" then Southwest requiring one more rating to apply than Delta requires. I mean it's actual Delta training that you're shelling out your own money to accomplish....

Talk about a hypocritical and stupid remark!
