Riiiiigghhhhtt. It's about a third of the size it was under AirTran, yet they're planning on "growth." I'll be surprised if it's even a domicile at all in five years.

In case you really care, one of the reasons the ATL base is considerably smaller than at AirTran is because that was your only real base. Southwest, on the other hand, is spread out, fairly evenly, over ten bases around the country. Plus, you guys were hub-and-spoke, and flew a buttload of connecting customers through ATL. De-hubbing ATL, so that previously-connecting pax are now bypassing the ATL on the way to their actual destination, was why the majority of the flight shrinkage occurred there.

As far as "growth" goes, especially at the ATL base, I don't claim to know for sure, but one thing I would lay money on, is that, as usual, you don't know the first friggin' thing about what you speak. Do you have any actual evidence or argument that it'll be "closed in five years," or is it just another of your made-up, "I hate Southwest" slams?

Dude, you just continually get worse and worse with the anti-all things Southwest shtick. The less relevant you are as time goes by, the more outlandish your crap becomes. It's almost funny, actually. These days, you're just coming across as a petulant child with the taste of sour grapes in your mouth. Do you really not see that?

Do everyone a favor and just go, already. Hopefully, you'll be more successful in your next endeavor than you were in your last.

Relax Jodie Foster...

Ahh yes .... Young Jodie in The Silence of the Lambs. As I was walking past the TV recently, my beady little eyes spotted the psych ward scene being replayed. I hopped up and down with excitement and pressed rewind.

Unfortunately it was cut, so I was unable to enjoy the full vigor of poor Miggs and his nasty little hobby. I must say, he's quite the shot though. I heard that he swallowed his tongue.

That's the spiderman. Throwing web.

Actually this is one of the few times I agree with PCL. The ATL domicile is very small compared to all the others. It is 1/3rd the size of the smallest of the remaining bases. It appears that it could very well be just to placate the trannies in the short term. We've come to expect the worst from GK and company. I truly hope that is does expand but I am not planning on it.

Maybe another way to look at the ATL is that it has really been two half-domiciles for quite a while now. About this time next year we should get a better idea of it's true size after being fully "Optimized" (man, am I getting sick of that word....)

Regarding ATL you've got to have perspective. Simply remember Morris Air, they were doing very well in SLC untill the shotgun wedding and then Southwest totally messed up the process and the competing airline, Delta, recovered nicely.

How did SWA mess that up

Hmmm..., Maru--the one guy on this forum less relevant on Southwest issues than PCL. Of course, that scab-wannabe is irrelevant on pretty much all airline issues.

So tell us, Maru, how did Southwest "mess up" anything in SLC? And as far as "shotgun weddings" go, you've probably forgotten that June Morris had the same motivation as Bob Fornaro--they couldn't wait to sell their airline to Southwest.

Wasn't Morris essentially a travel club type airline that sold its open seats? The owners we're probably thrilled to get a healthy offer.

I see you're posting on the SWAPA forum.

I was just thinking the same thing. For someone who hates SWA and SWAPA (but is a SWAPA member now) he sure is on the SWAPA forums a bunch.

And FWIW if he did not sent his dues check off form in he would not have had access to the website....

My $$$$ is ole Todd will be in transition class....

Nah, it's all about the Atlanta domicile. I wouldn't be able to hold it for a very long time. Somewhere around 8 years, maybe 5 under best case growth. I'm not interested in commuting again, and I have a business in Atlanta, so I couldn't do the commute even if I wanted to. I'd have stayed on working a minimum schedule if I could have held ATL, but that wasn't in the cards after the SLI raping and Gary's lies.

I was ATL-based for almost a year at my previous airline. Not a bad base, but hardly so good that one should quit the industry in the absence of holding it.

Atlanta is home. I have no interest in moving or commuting.

For those of us that chose not to commute and home is/was in our base, it is a pity that over the course of a year we'll be spending an extra month of nights away from home now (and for less money). I'm in my 14th year and have looked at other options. If ATL wasn't attainable in the relative near future (at least with this week's plan), I'd be seriously considering those other options and providing a spot for someone else to buy their type rating and get hired. If/when ATL closes because they can't/choose not to compete, we'll re - evaluate.

So you guys became airline pilots?
Knowing that you weren't willing to move?

Wonder why so many view the bitchers from air tran on this board as such amateurs?

Once again, your own unrealistic expectations about the industry cause you guys so much heartburn.

Dumbass, we went to work for an airline that had only one domicile: ATL. It was a pretty safe bet that we weren't going to get based anywhere else.

You shouldn't lose your seat or domicile in any merger.

It's basically the "Golden Rule," which some people live by and other less ethical
people love to quote but ignore.

Dumbass, things change in an airline career
It's basically the only certainty.

Case in point on that amateur comment ^^^

Some things are just not worth it to some people. There is nothing wrong with that. The man has been smart enough to have a plan B. Everyone has their priorities. No need to bash someone if theirs is different than yours.

Poor Wave. Such a delicate flower.

"Many view" ....... ? Hmmmm. Do you have long round table discussions with your many like minded friends, regarding the nature of our professionalism ? Or are you merely a small minded, barely literate luddite, who stayed up well past his bedtime ?

Taking advice from you, is like taking dating advice from the happy ending care monkey guy.

Yup. Dumbasses pay for training. Bitch about rj's, and how other airlines have outsourced, but dumbasses take that rj job, then make dumbass excuses!
Hey dumbass! Yes, that means you wavey!
