Their contract would be binding to the airline they merge with, not the holding company.
Only their pilot group through the MEC can agree to something different.
Dubya, you might want to re read the contract..

Go ahead...you pay the D checks on those crapped out birds...From our forum someone "heard from mx" : we have purchased (or purchased the leases for) Mesa's 22 700s and 38 900s and their associated flying. They are trying to round up mx personnel to inaugurate the PHX mx base.
Skywest can buy XJT tomorrow and does not have to merge any lists until new aircraft are purchased. Once a new plane is brought on property all the lists must be merged. That could be years from now.
For the pilots at XJT read pages 223-226. and then call CG for clarification
Props
That is incorrect, XJT scope applies to the airline holding company which buys XJT, see Section 1 part D. What you are referencing is the side letter which prevents XJT Holding from creating a GOJets situation at XJT.
Am I missing something here?
I understood the incentive for skywest to try to buy expressjet the first time around because they wanted a foot in the door for the continental flying. I don't see why skywest would still be looking to buy expressjet out now that the UA/CO merger has been announced.
Am I missing something here?
SkyWest Inc wil buy ExpressJet and merge them with ASA.
SkyWest airlines will buy Mesas aircraft, bring over many of their pilots, some will be brought on as captains but will be at the bottomof the list.
Online? Ummm...no. Believe me, we could use a few airplanes right about now...Some of those planes are already at the Skywest hangar in SLC and a couple are already online with Mesa registry still on them.
BTW all United Express flying will be flown by ALPA regionals after they merge, and all ALPA majors will be hiring ALPA members.
So SKW super pilots enjoy what you got now. Your management knows that
That dog won't hunt. How much do you expect to trade for that? My bet is nothing. There are programs being put in place to hopefully remove the whipsaw at the regional level. Could it evolve into more? That remains to be seen but as far as hiring only ALPA, I don't see that one having any legs for a long time.
You heard it here first folks. Skywest to buy Mesa in the next few weeks and to try and buy ExpressJet again.

Time will tell, I think it will happen.
Lets hope the cockpit free ride does not go from ALPA to ALPA only.....
I see that happening as well. In the early 90s it was happening.
Sure, start a Jump Seat War, that would be great, since mailine flies mostly international.
And in the early 90s, it wasn't happening, I was there.
ALPA, sucks!
Actually I posted this almost two months ago......

I was there too. Many captains were asking for the alpa membership card,
Now go back to your little airline SKW and get on your knees for $100 per hr after 20 years flying a dc9-10.
NO JOBS, NO FREE RIDE, IS COMING MR CFIT

Seems to me that SKW is desperate to buy. Only merged seniority wiil accomplish that. Havent they learn that at SKW? They failed to purchase 5 times so far as assets sale.

What about Comair? Why wouldn't Skywest buy Comair?
Let me guess, you're one of those guys that starts running around the house in excitement holding his newly delivered ALPA magazine, correct? Get a life.
I hear what you are saying about the Inc. side of things but I'm pretty sure all would need to combine. That was a big part of what killed the last attempt by SkyWest. ASA, Skywest and XJT would have to combine lists and Skywest did not go for that. I'll leave the final answer to the "experts" on our contract...
All correct. Section 1 Part D, 3a is what you are referring to on page 12. It basically says that if XJT is acquired or merged then the ALPA merger policy will apply if the other carrier is ALPA. It states further that if the other carrier is not ALPA then Sections 3 and 13 of the Allegheny-Mohawk Labor Protective Provisions ("LPP") shall apply. Either way, the outcome is required to be accepted by the new company.
