OK I see your point. I think this has a great deal to do with how things used to be run...major owning their regional feed...I mean do you really think SWA would go out and start their own regional for the little amount of flying that was originally proposed?

Well, that is a good point, and that still may be the case. However, all I'm saying is that this article and potential WN flying have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

couldn't agree with you more on that fact...many people wish SKW would come across some new flying but the fact is there is no new flying to be had anyplace. Any additional flying that comes about will be small scale and at the expense of others.

are you trying to prove they are or are not planning on hiring? I believe this is how it has always looked on the site skynation (this is what you could be proving)

not hiring anytime soon is how I read it

I think Horizon only feeds Alaska...is that true?
I quick check of the Alaska Airlines website shows the following;

Codeshare Partners and Regional Affiliates
Flight Numbers Operated By
1-999 Alaska Airlines
1000-1999 American Airlines
2000-2999 Horizon Air
3000-3199 Continental Airlines
3200-3274 Peninsula Airways
3275-3299 Peninsula Airways (Dutch Harbor Flights)
3380-3449 Big Sky Airlines
4000-4799 American Eagle
4800-4999 Era Aviation
5000-5199 Northwest Airlines
6000-6499 Delta Air Lines
6500-6648 Skywest Airlines (dba Delta Connection)
6649-6749 Atlantic Southeast Airlines (dba Delta Connection)
All other flight number ranges are operated by Alaska Airlines
Other Airline Partners
Air France-KLM LAN
British Airways Qantas
Cathay Pacific Airways

As one can see, the Alaska/Horizon relationship is not only between themselves, but includes many other airlines. One can book on "Alaska Airlines" but travel on Horizon on anyone else above and make it to their destination without ever setting foot on an actual Alaska Airlines aircraft.

I wonder why no Comair?
