I thinks its sad/funny that pilot groups fight with each other for what is essentially scope. Like any pilot anywhere had anything to do with routes, bases, aircraft, scope. So get pissed at the pilot group, it shows your intelligence.

I think the hatred you speak of towards a pilot group comes when some pilot groups like Mesa and SkyWest take a substandard contract and refuse to unite with the rest of the industry. Then we suddenly see RFPs come out and their airline underbids everyone and captures the flying. Then our companies come to us asking for concessions.

If I had a buck for every time I've heard this. I guess it doesn't count that I know of 7 SkyWest pilots in the last month that got hired on at a major (ALPA no less). Yup, working for SkyWest is a dead end job with no hope of getting hired anywhere else. TOOL.

So true. It's a huge base, and yet they just KNOW you're not from there. You might as well be wearing women's underwear over your uniform when you walk in the crew lounge with all the strange looks you get.

Mesa used up most of their negotiating capital on their scope clause in order to reign in alter ego airlines. Skywest on the other hand, would have much more leverage than any other regional right now considering they have $700 MILLION in the bank and just made almost $160 MILLION. Also, imagine how much worse it would be if Mesa pilots didn't have a union???

SkyWest was hiring before and during the Union drive and vote, all while the people who got the drive going were leaving in droves to bigger and better places. The reason why this vote lost is because SkyWest was hiring all these scabs from other airlines like YOURS!

Dont worry about the eye contract, I cant get most of my fellow XJT pilots to make eye contact with me. Its not just because you are Skywest or CHQ. Its because alot of our pilots think they are better than everybody else including their fellow co-workers. Its the CAL mentality that has descended into our ranks.

Agreed, don't forget the "badge stare" that 99% of them do everytime they see someone they don't know.
