What ever happened to the EMB135's? Did they ever cancel that order all together?

You know, some yahoo always asks about those at meetings with mgmt. It cracks me up. No orders, just options. Thats like my wife saying, I'll think about it.

HAHAHA...that's pretty funny. Supposedly, we still "supposed" start receiving them next year.

I have a better chance of winning Saturday's Powerball lottery than SYX ever getting EMB's.

Sorry for the cynicism...

HMM

SYX Future?

Guys,

The displacements have begun and 328 CA's have been scheduled for Be1900 sims. I guess this was done via the phone. It seems to me that there are no options for the 328's at Delta. SYX mgmt said that are waiting for Mesa to contact them about the planes and that SYX doesnt want to seem too interested in them?????

Displacements will be from the top down so they will need a new hire class for more 1900 FO's.

In addition, all regionals are hiring, why wouldn't the FO;s leave to other large operators. The word on the street says that regional flying will continue to grow and that mainline carriers will do coast to coast and international only. Its all about $$$$.

Last item, I heard that a MEDEX FO asked Hoekesma at the shareholders meeting about being purchased (merged) with Airtran. He did not confirm or deny that rumor and it was kinda awkward from what I heard. If that does happen, Airtran 'may' sever regional agreements with carriers such as SYX!! (Hopefully not).

Bottom line, I dont like the constant "waiting to see what might happen" attitude. I am looking at other jobs myself. Good luck!

The displacements start next month, those pilots are being notified today. I think that there are going to be more leaveing and I can't blame them. But if you want to upgrade and get that PIC time then stay. If your leaving for another regional and you think that your going to upgrade sooner than here at Skyway your mistaken. I would say that if you stay your going to upgrade faster and get that PIC time and get out of here. The goal here is not to stay but to move up the food chain. And the only way to do that is to get the PIC time. With all the people leaving or trying to leave for bigger airlines the upgrade time wont be 3 to 5 years it will be something more like 1 to 2 here. Since I have the PIC time I'm looking to leave so another number frees up.
I have no irons in the fire yet so it wont happen too soon, but I am trying to be gone by the end of this year.
Stay go I can't tell you that, but you need that PIC turbine time. Something to think about.

And when all the displacements are done that's when we'll get the five new jets. I talked to the DO today and he said that they are going to a meeting next week. It could still take three to four months before we see them here but they want them.

Thats funny right there!

I still think things are going to happen. Think about it, we are the only airline that desperately wants something that other airlines are playing hot potato with. Someone, sometime will toss it to us. I still havent scheduled surgery to get my Dojet tatoo removed yet, just the Delta paint scheme.

Please just don't tell us where, exactly, your tattoo is located. :D

Well usually its of the 32 pax version, and during other moments its a 50 seat variant. But not for too long...

Sound business descion to wait on them to get desperate enough to sell them at rates we desire. Bad form on wanting an orphan airframe with little support and limited parts. I'm pretty sure Hinan still wants some of the planes too, and they can probably pay more for them than us.

Upgrade faster if you stay? How do displacements and upgrades corelate? The guys leaving the company are the junior ones on the list, not the senior ones. With no growth projected at Skyway there will be no new upgrades unless guys at the top of the list leave. There were maybe 2-3 that left that were senior to me over the year and a half I was at Skyway.

listen, skyway management wants the planes for nothing. not gonna happen. as far as someone saying stay here you'll upgrade fast, exactly how is that gonna happen. since your furloughing? And if you have the chance to leave then leave other companys not many but some do pay there pilots wages u can at least live off (B1900 second year $20.69 DOJET 24.00 5 year capt B1900 38.18). leaving skyway was the best choice I ever made. The pilot group is great but the company has no vision and management sucks.

Good luck with that! I was kind of hoping you guys would get the jet deal. Maybe something will come out of the woodwork yet?

I never put an app in with Skyway, though I know a few who have applied and a few who have worked there...if you remember Fish, he was one of my first instructors.

I like seeing the Skyway planes at the airports that I go to...good luck!

resignation

Hey,

Well, I got the dreaded voice mail early this afternoon... " We have bad news for you but you are being displaced to Beech F/O and class starts next week on June 2nd." I am not to sure what to do but I did get accepted to a college university to pursue a second degree without any hassle. I smell a voluntary resgination from myself and maybe back to my normal career. Who knows what the right decision is! How long due I pursue this dream to fly for a living before I give up? A lot of peopel have left, I agree, but it's just another lateral movement. Moreover, a knee-jerk reaction to the unofficial news from Skyway management.

Peace,
hindu flyer.

pilots running away

Well if you are leaving the right seat of the jet to the beech, why leave? The Beech is a great plane to fly. Sure we don't have all the creature comforts of the jet, but we don't have a FA that we have to listen to. Having flown both ac, that right there is a huge bonus, in my eyes. Are senior people going to start leaving? YES. I know quite a few that are interviewing right now. Hopefully they will be gone soon if they don't screw up their interview. Me, I'm sticking around and will hopefully have enough time to be gone this summer, fingers crossed. So there are a lot of people leaving. On both ends of the senority list. If you leave, good luck. I think your chances are probably about 60-40 to upgrade faster at SYX. Not an intelligent guess, just a guess.

You will NEVER make Captain on the jet unless you are a lifer. There are a lot of lifers there (even though they will not admit it. About 100 lifers out of the top 150). SYX is going to need 110 Captains and they currently have about 135 with the flow backs. The Captain seat will be filled for years to come. You will need to have about 20 captains out of the top 110 just to get the flow backs in to the left seat of the Beech. Lets see there were 2 that have left since Dec. If 2 leave every six months that would be 4 a year and that is 6 years just to get the 25 flow backs into the left seat. Welcome to Comair, XJT, and CHQ...

As Ernest Gann said "the numbers haunt me"
Leave or stay it is your choice. Do what you feel is best for you and yours, don't burn the bridge and allways be thankful if you have a choice.

Hey it's a job. It's not your entire life

I'm in the top 110 pilots here at SYX, and I am trying like hell to get out and move up the food chain. Would I like to fly the jet again? Well yes I would. You would be surprized at how many guys that are so called lifers, that are trying to get out too. It's not that SYX is a bad place to work, just like the rest of you we want to provide for our families.
Right now there are choices to be had, airlines need pilots. How many of you remember when you needed more than 750 hours and a multi rating to get a job?
Well I do, and I am greatfull that I have a job.
If your going to go, go. But first think and figure out whats best for you. Don't make a decision shooting from the hip. But I would stay, the more that leave the faster I move up.
Whats more I don't have to sit through a boring class of Indoc, and try and figure out how to bid, get paid, etc. I guess that the devil I know is better than the one that I just met. Think about not flying for up to two months, while your sitting in class. And the rest of us who have stayed and are flying 85 hours a month.
I'll be that much closer to a boeing or a bus than you'll be.
later I've got to fly!

Mesaba MEC is talking to our chiefs to keep an eye out for Skyway people. If you are a furloughed Skyway guy give me a PM.

Hey that's pretty cool that there are people out there that are willing to help others. There is hope yet!

Give it up there is no upgrade time at Skyway, in case you and 248 to 2.8 don't go into work your company is displacing, that equals no furloughs. As far as saying going through another indoc would suck nope its great compared to flying the seminole 19 seat extended version from MKE to ESC IMT IWD SAW, especially in the winter. I have 1000 or so hrs in that plane and I can honestly say they were the most depressing days of my life. Quit telling people to stay the companys bombing and they dont want to go with it, But I'm sure Rankin will have some BS for you guys to drool about next week at your CHAT WITH JIM session. And stop telling yourself your not a lifer your in the top 110 that = lifer.

Just got a call from CHQ yesterday. They are changing the May 31st Republic (Delta) class to a Shuttle America (United) class on June 2. This means we will be based out of ORD flying the 170. The hiring into the Shuttle America side is supposed to continue at large numbers. Just thought I'd let you guys know that they are currently only hiring into ORD since many of you live in that area.
