.....and when is the IPO again?

You are right, I don't know much about stocks. As for embarrasing myself, not so much. You seem to be an expert in that arena but you are the one waiting around for a private company to first prove itself, then go public, then do well enough for the stock to split TWICE and go up and make you millions?

You might as well go to Vegas, I think the odds would be better out there. Heck you might even get some!!

I am betting......not so much.

He couldn't get laid in a whorehouse with a fist full-o-hundreds !!

I'm going to laugh when in 5 years most of you are applying to Skybus and being turned down...

Who would have guessed America West would be buying USAir and making an offer on Delta 5 years ago?

Who would have thought ValueJet would be one of the best paying airlines today?

Go on, keep bashing Skybus, it will only make their success that much more sweet.

Even if you're right, and I'm applying to Skybus in 5 years, it's only going to be because you're company contributed to ruining other airlines which had better compensation packages by undercutting them in this "race to the bottom".

I fail to see how that would make you want to laugh at me.

And after your comments on unity and brotherhood and the unions and all that? Shameful.

This my airline is better than your airline is kind of pathetic.
We are a free enterprise country.
Who said if I sell pickles for 10 cents a piece at the corner of the street, my next door neighbor is not allowed to sell his pickles for 5 cents a piece at the next corner? If he can do it and survive, that’s very good for him. Now we are looking for some helpers and I am offering 5 cents an hour while my neighbor is offering 3 cents an hour. The prospective helpers have first tried at my shop but I couldn’t hire all. Better than nothing, the others went to the next door neighbor. In time more clients keep going to buy from my neighbor. Hmmm! …That’s not good for me. After a while my helpers scared to do not have the pay decreased have started fighting with my neighbor’s helpers blaming them of bringing wages down. Who is to be blamed here?
If you work for UAL or any other legacy you fight for your privileges. You do the talking on everybody’s name but in reality you don’t give a crap about how pilot Joe flying in crappy planes, crappy conditions, for crappy companies –these are the majority- pay their bills, keeps their kids in college. Not only that. You the guys who got to keep your jobs after your more juniors peers hit the streets after 9/11, did you give a crap how they survived. How they managed their family’s bills? What did they do for living? I bet….NOPE. If many of them accepted crappy jobs now they get blamed why did they do it? You know something?…. Back off…. Everybody is trying the best for his family. Nobody’s doing this just for his name to stay in the history of the world for posterity to see how big of a looser he was.
If Sky bus is offering only 30K/65K that’s their right. When UAL /FDX/UPS/DAL etc will hire all the pilots, and some pilots will turn down their offers to work for Skybus, then you should be allowed to bitch about. Until then there are people more fortunate than others and that’s it. You didn’t get hired by UAL because you are God’s pilot. A pilot is a pilot. Many of you got hired due to other circumstances such as right place, right time, claiming minorities rights, knowing someone inside, etc. Just because of that and you shouldn’t bark at someone less fortunate or less luckier then you. And if the future will belong to the one who’s selling for less, so be it. It’s been always like that. How many companies AA or UAL etc put out of business through history? It doesn’t matter how good of a gun slinger you are, somewhere another gun slinger is born. He might be faster and better than you are. That’s life. Period.

We have an army of Joe Hills here.

Really, how many of you have ever been on strike? Have you ever signed a card for representation? Have you been threatened with the closure of the company if a union was voted in? Have you done anything to improve pay or working conditions, or anything else about the industry, other than complain on message boards?

Has it occured to anybody the problem with the industry is the way legacy carriers, barely profitable in the best times, declare bankruptcy every recession and then go to their supposedly militant union activist pilots and get big wage concessions? Wouldn't the industry be much healthier if some of the legacies would disappear and remove some of the excess capacity from the industry?

How many legacy pilots have refused to work for the reduced pay and gone elsewhere? I actually did meet one, but I think that's pretty rare.

You guys work for the best deal you can get, which is what everybody does. I'm sure you would be happy if others would remain unemployed to boost your wages but I don't think you would return the favor.

And, strangely enough, you can't use a dirty word on this board, not even in a disguised form, but endless personal attacks are perfectly OK. Typical aviation industry hypocrisy. So, flame away.

I love comments about lowering the bar. Hasn't everyone done that to some degree. You have either flown a RJ for something less then what a mainline company would have payed or you were at a mainline company and willfully outsourced your own jobs. I can see the discussions in the past. "50 seat RJ, I'm too good for that let's outsource it to a small regional company." Now with many of them its up to 70 seats. I find it hard to believe that everyone is so perfect. People get to their lofty positions and its easy to throw stones back down the hill when other people take different routes.

I can't read anymore of this thread. All I can say is I wish all the worst for Skybus and their whores. Oh and FMS Speed, you know what you are doing to this industry we don't need to explain it to you do we?
