Nice read there skip. I had never seen this thread. I'm only an hour or less from GMU. Seeing as how I'm still a little clueless on which direction I'll ultimately end up going in aviation, I actually don't fall into the "only here to build time" category. But I think it might be safe to assume that pretty much every pilot is trying to build time on some level or another. It seems that a training contract OR increased minimums is mandatory for SATs to get any real longevity out of their pilots. Then again, if they're constantly hurting for pilots go figure. I think if this company could somehow incorporate the ability to supply thier pilots with an ATP rating then they could become golden. All they'd have to do is have access to a multi-engine and then they could brag to their clients that all their pilots are Airline Transport Pilot rated. You know, SATs has boosted sales of the Cirrus aircraft by demonstrating to the client/passengers. Why doesn't Diamond jump in with their DA multi. It can run on diesel fuel for low overhead and probably impress the clientel as well as the SR22 has. Then the pilots have access to something that the industry and insurance deems mandatory. Every company should have some sort of upgrade.
Aaaaanyway, I'm getting a little creative there.
Does or would SATs ever supply that kind of training? Is there anymore info regarding their VLJ interest? I hear all this news about Honda's jet over in Greensboro. It seems like Japan's recently famed engineer residing in Greensboro would be paying attention to such an operation in his neck of the woods.
