Was in TLH today and saw a NW Airlink Saab parked at the gate. I used to work for them when I went to school up there and we only had CRJ's come in three times a day. Are these Saabs in addition to the 3 CRJ flights a day or did they switch a few of them out?

Since you've been gone Delta has merged with Northwest. Northwest contracts with a dirt cheap carrier called mesa/ba who flies saabs. Thats who you saw.

They are not contract, they are wholly owned. Who do you work for? Jealous of the Saab?
 
dirt cheap carrier called mesa/ba. Mesaba maybe cheap but it is NOT MESA. Mesaba is a much better company than Mesa ever will be.

Just out of curiosity I looked at both contracts here on the web. They are almost identical in both pay and 401K. Knowing Mesaba's work rules are good that can only mean you think maybe a .0001% is worth talking about. Funny. If they are dirt cheap than that includes you! The only smart azz comment you can make and it doesn't even hold water. Sour grapes.:crying:

No worrys!

Florida used be called the boneyard for airlines that operated there. The yields are so low, that no one can maintain long term profitability. How many different regionals have flown there in the last few years for Delta?
 
It didn't take long at all for this thread to end up in the gutter did it?

To answer the question...

On April 1st, Delta returned to the TLH-MCO/FLL/TPA markets using Mesaba Saab 340s. Those routes are flown under the "Delta Connection" brand. The flights are fed by the MEM-TLH route that is operated on behalf of NWA as "NWA Airlink." There are still 2 CRJs on the route for a total of 3 flights. Crews come from the MEM base.

Same here... we were turning onto 27R tonight in ATL and one was landing on 27L. I do a double take everytime I see them... plus they are using flight numbers that 9E used to use out of MEM.

It will be interesting to see how these routes fair compared to when the ERJs ran them.

Kinda like how Mesaba was everything NWA2700-3499 only few years ago. . .

Haha exactly. Pinnacle is flying the old XJ 2xxx numbers in the NW system...just as weird hearing that.

What's next, cats and dogs getting along?
 
Heck I welcome them to the Jacked up Atlanta system. There numbers have gone down just like ours..
 
We still use 2700-2799 and 3000-3699 in the Airlink system... nothing new there. What is weird is the 5XXX numbers when the flights are in MSP. I think it still throws the controllers off. I don't think we've ever had anything different until now.

Actually Mesaba is owned by DAL and is not a contract carrier. Obviously you know nothing of the oldest operating regional (over 60 years) and the original starter of the "AirTran Holdings" name (complelety differant animal now, but it was our holdings Corp when it started). As previously posted pilot payscales are on par with others now and currently snapping back.

No offense, but those airlink Saabs must be a heck of an age. Looking pretty rough inside and out! I thought Northwest's color was red, these have mostly faded to pink - not a great image for the big-D passenger.

Have flown on them several times now on my commute. Great crews, willing to go out of their way to get you on. Seems like the airplane is very weight restricted most times however, so you have to have a backup plan.

Younger than the DC 9's, MD 80's, and some of the 737's DAL has on property. They do need some paint, they're in the process now. But they are running over 11 hours of utilization a day and few spare frames in the stretched out DAL system.

In the process of redoing the entire interiors and exeriors of the plane. Most of the B+ Saab models are built in the late 90's.
With our new weight and balance system, we have alot more flexibility with regards to getting jumpseaters and non-revs on.

They approx 12-13 years old. XJ took delivery of them when they were brand new. They will start undergoing the new Delta paint jobs soon so they will once again look brand new.

Your saabs should look good in the new paint! Sorry you have to put up with ATL however.

doesn't mesaba operate out of MSP and DTW? since when did they operate out of MEM? thought MEM was the old Express 1 (now Pinnacle) hub.

DAL's 737-800s are pretty new.... their oldest one is probably a 99 or 00 model.
