I would say your wrong.. XJT always had it. CO pilots put a block with scope.. But if ever change, they could excute it...

And no they did not. Not until JA SKYW INC tried to buy you and also the ASA deal. You might want to check your sources.
 
I know it all sounds silly, but these days the back-room career-killing games that managements play are MUCH more significant to our careers than just "getting airplanes." If this entire rumor were true, then most regional pilots today could probably kiss the idea of ever working for a major goodbye. Hence the heightened interest.

Worse case scenario, there will still be plenty of mainline jobs.... overseas.

Some of these jobs have starting pay that tops some mainline captain's pay. Anyways, thats a different subject...Ill start a new thread

Delta has a hard time predicting their schedule two weeks out. To think any kind of planning can be done that far out in this industry is ludicrous!

Their planning says we will START hiring from end of 2013 to beginning of 2015. they put a 14-18 month dartboard up on the wall. That's not a plan, it just something HR people say to shut up all the phone calls. It's not like they are saying "this is our window", they are saying that the first new hire class will happen somewhere over this 14-18 month span.

...unless changes in the economy and/or business model require growth in some segment before then, or contraction of the economy causes unexpected large capacity cuts killing hiring plans until after then....the best laid plans of mice and airlines are almost always useless.
 
Seriously doubt that Delta mgnt would even consider downsizing DCI. Delta is the king of outsourcing. Mgnt doesn't voluntary start contract talks early to give a gift to the pilots!!! It is for a deal that mgmt want now... (like less scope for more pay).
Delta mgmt might do strange things from time to time, but even they would not do something so stupted!
Only way they would be willing to drop the # of 50s is if they were directly replaced for larger guage aircraft.
Keep hoping.... Maybe obama will help :)
 
The real question is whether or not mainline pilots will fly the CRJ 900. Code share is definately on the radar with Skywest, Inc. The standard fee for departure, regional flying model is a dead and dying one. The codeshare WILL be attempted- question is with whom?
 
We have heard this song and dance of Delta wanting to shrink regional feed time and time again....Personally, I don't see the CRJ-900's being flown by mainline. Think of the difference of operating costs by staffing them with Delta crews, etc. As for that ever discussed 100 seat flying, that is where the line in the sand is drawn...so who knows

Delta aint flying the 900. the only ones that would fly those are the people who aren't hired yet and they don't get a vote. You give them a no furlough clause, wave some retirement numbers in their face and a bump in pay and the 100 seaters are going to DCI.

Guess the no hiring till 2013-2015 kills that ole 717 rumor huh

I wouldn't say it kills the 717 rumor. The planes can't just show up overnight and we are able to fly them. Even moving an aircraft type from one base to another takes several months to get everyone trained up etc. Of course now the rumor is more A-319's instead of the 717, which would suit me just fine.

Delta just acquired 7 more MD90s from JAL although their press release stated the planes will be added on a cost neutral basis replacing older mainline jets and 50 seat jets

lots of factors-look at the 60's and 70's when all those air taxi operators were running around in Beech 99's and navajos. I won't open up the deregulation can of worms
 
You realize richard, Delta just signed a contract until 2022 for 50 seat lift?

If you are looking at Boyd for any applicable information, you might as well read fortune cookies.

Just admit you hate all the tons of RJ's your pilot group scoped in, not that your opinion matters!

Read the details of the contract more closely. Delta will start pulling 50 seaters as the leases expire. The amended contract PNCL agreed to lengthens the deal but allows Delta to start shedding 200s alot sooner

RA stated in a Line check meeting that they want to be around 100 to 150 crj200. When the leases expire they will park them.
