I was just browsing the Fractionals sections of the board for the first time in months, and it looks like the NetJets pilots are voting on a new contract that offers more pay for newhire FOs than many regional RJ Captains are making. The agreement also has 100+ crew bases, 50% 401k match, 100% paid medical benefits, etc...

This is an excellent opportunity for regional FOs with some flight time built up, because there is no PIC time requirement to be competitive for the job. They hire plenty of guys with no PIC time. As long as you've got the 2500 TT, 500 ME, and your ATP, you're good to go. If you don't have the ATP, that just takes a quick few days at AllATPs.

not only regional FO's but LCC FO's or anyone just tired of the industry and wants to make a move , bet there are alot of people at LCC that want a move but can afford it or regional captains. If I read the proposal right new hire Fo's with an 18 day on schedule makes 69+ first year if they keep that scheduele and that is just basic pay.

At that pay rate it makes it easier for people to move over instead of paying 30 bucks first year just to prove you belong there, by the what union to they have??

True. If I wasn't based at home not flying much on reserve, then it would probably be something that I would consider, too.

They started their own local under the Teamsters a few years ago. I'm not a fan of the Teamsters as a National organization, but the local NetJets guys are top-notch. This is the second TA they've brought to the pilots with amazing advances in pay, work rules, and job protections.
 
I thought about fractionals, but you have to remember... no pass benefits and no jumpseats.

But they do keep airline points and hotel points for their own use. The guys I know in the Frac world always have enough points for a few free airline tickets and hotels. Not too bad.

Plus, starting Regional FO pay = $20k, Frac starting pay $65k, I think I could afford to buy a ticket or two if I needed to ;)
 
I'm a regional FO, NOT on the RJ, and put up with a lot of sh...err, stuff. Just got a TA that seems to be 'adequate'. I don't like some parts of my career, but for what I want to do, i.e., fly big airplanes built by Boeing or Airbus, I think I'm in the right place.

Will a fractional job help me toward that goal?

So? 100 bases means living where you work and the pay lets you BUY an actual positive space ticket.


Not when your kids live 5 states away and you have to either go see them or fly them down to where you live twice a month. That's lot of tickets to buy, and I'm sure I'm not the only pilot in that situation. Hence, no travel bennies and no jumpseats doesn't work. I just wanted to point that out for everyone. Some of us rely on those benefits.

And I have news for you. In today's world where milk costs $5 a gallon and gas costs $3, $65K a year ain't that much!
 
Not like pass bennies are worth a crap these days anyway!!!

Don't get me started. We at ASA go to buddy pass priority AND have to pay $5/segment, $0.01 per mile starting Dec 1. We won't be getting on any planes anyhow! :angryfire

Probably not, we don't hire pilots who have SJS.

You are CLUELESS if you think the proposal you got was "adequate."

Skybus is looking for pilots in the AIRBUS. You probably stand a good chance of getting a job there.

After numerous offers to fly "heavy jets" and weighing the options with my family, I realized the dream of flying a "big" jet wore off a LONG time ago. I'm in for job stability and QOL now.
 
Most regional FO's and some captains don't have the minimum times required at NJ's.

Remember 2500 isn't just a minimum its a hard requirement. The owners have contracts and expect a certain level of experience. The 2500hrs goes a long way to ensuring that.

Plus I believe the fact that the company can only hire 2500hr pilots at a minimum has kept our wages high because we can't be undercut by pilots willing to do our jobs for 1/4 of the pay just to gain "experience".
 
once the TA passes NetJets will become very picky with the applicants. Mostly going for/stealing pilots from other fractionals.
 
It's a long time to be gone, but the 7 days off is very nice.

Yeah, but I have no life, so I'd get way too bored being home for 7 days. I saw something on the frax board about 15 and 18 day schedules, what's the deal with that.

I agree, but with double the pay right out of the gate and then 7 days off.....compared to my 6/1 schedule now......It sounds pretty good.

15 day Flex - Longest trip is 5 days, followed by minimum of 3 days off. However you have no say in your schedule....You won't work more than 15 days.

18 Day Fixed - Longest trip is 7 days (with exception you CAN work a 8 day trip if the company needs you to one time per 4 month period). You will be able to bid your schedule by selecting days off, length of trips, starts days, etc in a PBS system (it WILL be monitored by the Union unlike CAL's). You will know the schedule the month prior and it WILL be a "fixed" schedule. 6 days or less is mandatory 3 days off, 7 days require minimum of 4 days off, and the 1 8 day you MIGHT do will require 5 days off. All this for a mere 20% override over the 7&7 pay....not a bad deal if you ask me.

Just some variations of the 7&7 schedule with the option to work more/less giving up flexibility for pay.
 
When I was NonReving out of JFK one night, there was a NetJet guy there trying to get home to. Said that if he didn't get home that night, it was an additional $400.......sound true?

If so, I want THAT contract!

It would have been more. It should have been two days pay. So almost a grand.

Yup there is a provision in there.... Except the pay will be more than $400 with the new TA rates....

For a 3 year SIC on the 18 day....$717.94
For a 3 year SIC on the 7&7........$700.42
For a 5 year PIC on the 18 day...$1130.99
For a 14 year PIC on the 18 day.$1541.42

Alot of money for getting home after midnight...

It doesn't happen often, but when it does...man it's nice.

I've done both 4 day trips and I currently work at a company with 7 on/off. I much prefer the current schedule.

With a 4 day trip, that left me with 3 off. Day 1 was used up with recovering from the trip and reacclimating to the family. Day 2 was an enjoyable day, and day 3 was consumed by the thought of going out the next day, as well as getting everything prepared for the road and at home.

With the week on/week off, I am able to enjoy my time at home more and as someone else mentioned, the vacation is better. I've been able to turn 2 weeks of vacation into 6 weeks off. I am currently on day 11 of 21 off and am sporting a full beard. I call it my vacation trophy.:)
