You must have missed ALL of the posts he made against me. Of course you did. Anyway, the "donald" remark was a good one, if you can make money with rentals, by all means DO IT. Good for you. And it is great that you don't ever have to worry about another housing meltdown or the economy going to the toilet. Great. My current company is doing well too, and huge retirement numbers upcoming will ensure great upward movement within the next decade. I don't know if the Regionals can say that, and the article this thread is based on doesn't seem to say that, but whatever. My advice still stands for ANY RJ pilot, and that is throw in an app as soon as you can when they start hiring IF you want to move on someday. The sooner you do, and the sooner you get on, the sooner you will recapture that QOL you are now enjoying. If you don't agree, just shrug your shoulders and move on.

I'm getting off topic here but, I don't have to worry about it because it was the meltdown, that's where I made my money. I was able to pick up all kinds of property for almost nothing. Plus I didn't say I was going to keep it forever. So what if there's another meltdown in the future. I'll already made my money.

Good for you man. That is why I called you the Donald. That is smart. I bought the big house after I got this job a couple years ago and I will be paying it off for years to come. But, I do like the house, which is a plus.

It seems a lot of pilots like to buy houses for more more than they can afford.

I am not sure if I will be doing it that way.

My wife has been working at a bank for 7 years, and deals with loans. The way banks are giving out lons are different than when it was in 06-08. They are very hard on the 30% debt to income ratio now. The biggest difference now is they will not give you a limit right off how much they will loan you. Now you have to apply for xxx amount and get approve or denied. So you will never know what the exact limit is like you use to, unless ofcouse you keep applying for more and more. For example, you use to go in and say, I want to borrow 100K, and you get a response with, "well we can give you 500K if you want." Now it doesn't work that way. If you want 100k you will get it or not, it doesn't mean you won't get 500k. You will just have to apply for that amout. Sorry if this is off topic, but it might be good info someone might want.

PS I thought I saw something on TV where the CEO of Jet Blue said he was ADD. I think he has done well for himself . I think he has been at other airlines bedsides JB. David N something.

Banks are like alcoholics. They will fall off the wagon again and start screwing the economy. The problem with the USA is that not one banker is in jail.

What you say here is very true. Guys who chase jobs or legacy carriers for reasons that on your six/general lee promote may be completely missing the point of life in my opinion.

I know when I'm on my last bit of life some day I sure as hell won't look back thinking of how great it was that I got to work at fedex and make industry leading pay (let alone delta). The things that will matter are the items listed by trainer 8.
 
Yep the post above is spot on....of course when you have thousands and thousands of post's puffing out your chest and correcting spelling it is easy to see some don't get it.

I think you got a hint too, and it was well deserved. Just because you won't take my advice (or couldn't use it anyway) doesn't mean others could not use it. It's actually pretty basic, throw your app in early if you want to go to the Majors so you can enjoy a better QOL sooner. I think most will take that advice, and there is no way you can say they won't.

Sorry putz but no, I haven't been spanked by the mods. Apparently you have though, to the point you stopped using your Jenny Leigh character. But still you come on here thinking you're giving us regional pilots your wisdom and advice. First of all, no one wants your advice, which still hasn't sunk into that thick skull of yours, and secondly don't you think we know how to plan and apply to move on when hiring resumes? All mine are up to date and I'm ready to move on when the day comes. I mean hell you supposedly got hired at the majors right? I also noticed you've stopped slamming SWA pilots too. Wow must have been a good spanking eh? PUTZ!

And that is why we come to F/I, it the Jerry Springer Show of the interwebs. Oh yeah the Regionals are doomed because the sky is falling and everyone knows that Mainline pilots are the only ones good enough to fly a falling sky.
 
Regionals will be around for quite sometime. American bankrupty will determine if the regionals will be around beyond 'quite sometime'. By this I mean AA mgt will be trying to place larger airframes possibly at Eagle, possibly spread them around to other regionals.

I just liked that he couldn't deal with the FACT that airlines DON'T have to be in financial duress to give away scope. As evidenced by the pre 9/11 contracts at the legacies.

Especially since UAL contract 2000 opened the door/paved the way for his furlough from UAL.

Ignorance is bliss I guess.......

Agreed. Just like the 19 seat tubroprop up to the 50 seat RJ. It will continue to exist. Just not at all on the scale or in the quantities that the BK's stimulated.

We can all hope the regionals, and the RJ's get scaled back, and soon.

Which judge mandated scope relief? IIRC, it was voted on by the pilots, NOT taken by the judge. At least in UAL's case.

It's a different generation of pilots who are at the majors now. This class has been directly affected by the scope relaxation of the former.

I think it's a "fool me once..." sort of scenario. I would be shocked if the pilot groups went to that well a second time.

True, at least we hope so.

The fact remains, scope relief ISN'T only given when airlines are under financial duress.

That was the past. Can you give a recent example in the last 5 years of voluntary scope relaxation at the profitable legacies? I don't think UAL has given extra, they are still trying to recover from their BK. CAL didn't allow any jets over 50 seats. The 70/76 seat limit hasn't been increased at Delta. I think that scope is important, but the next round will include Joint Ventures and Codeshares with other airlines, they seem to be growing.

Anybody else notice that OYS gets suspended, and GL just shows back up from a "12 day Asia trip" (unless he works for FDX, or UPS, a joke in itself)? What an amazing "coincidence"!
