Do the majority of you guys commute or live in the Bay Area?

About 90% commute. We do have small bases in LAX & JFK, plus some winter pairings out of IAD that anyone can bid for.

Commuting is pretty easy as we are known for being very jumpseat friendly. The WX in SFO is a commute issue for some. We haul a lot of UA AA AS DL and WN guys up and down the west coast and are happy to have you on board.

And why shouldn't you be, you just admitted everybody else gets you to work.

PLEASE MODS....GET THIS OFF THE MAJORS BOARD.

That's quite an assumption on your part Bill. A lot of us live in VA cities, LAS, LAX, SAN, IAD and SEA are quite popular. I for one commute exclusively on my own flights. I enjoy the service and IFE so much I will plan for one of our flights and use the other guys only as a back up.

Sorry this thread has peed in your Wheaties. Enjoy the flavor.:p

Oops to all the major folks on the post in the major section. Posted this the other night had no idea there would be so many hits on va. Interesting. Thank you everyone for the info, greatly appreciated!!

I feel like every time I log on and read these boards, I become a little more stupid. Life must really be bad if all you have to p!ss and moan about is threads on incorrect boards. I have a really hard time believing you are professional pilots.

Yeah Ralph,

You pathetic bottom feeder.....ya got me all choked up.

Could someone please help Bill find his "Big girl panties", please

I can't believe we're still having discussions about uniforms, really?!

They are running out of other stuff to knock us for. It is hard to bash an airline that sweeps every possible travel award, has a two and a half year upgrade, and realistic plans for growth. The schedules are great. Management is responsive. Coworkers are happy to be there.

I personally like the uniform. I wore a white shirt and blue pants for nine years. Hopefully we never go back.

I hate to interrupt the love fest but I have a couple questions for any actual VA pilots...

I recently applied with about 4400TT, 2000 Turbine Pic. I know I am below the published minimum of 5000hrs but has anyone ever interviewed or been hired with less than the minimum?

I have pretty low expectations because I live a sheltered life as a corporate pilot and thus dont have any connections at VA or anywhere else for that matter, and with my low total time I am not holding my breath.... Thanks for the input

I'm happy at VA. It cracks me up to see the hate for us on this board. Could it be better? What job couldn't be better? So now lets hear from those that hate us so much that you have to bash our uniform or the fact we are not a "major" (yet). Go ahead and comment about my pay, commute, aircraft or whatever. You see, I don't care what you think. Please refer to the first sentence of this post, that's what is important to me. To the bashers: I'm sorry you have not found the same.
