Hmmm ... on the 7&7 there are approx 26 weeks of work available. After 10 years you have 4 weeks of vacation plus another week of PTO. That leaves 21...

If your including the 3 weeks of training, thats still time away from home. Am I missing something?

sick days.....

How much did your first flying job pay?
Hopefully more than $18,100 or you my friend are as quilty as they are.

I hate when people say, "If they didn't take the job then the salaries would go up".

Yes, it's a true statement but it's from a very myopic viewpoint.

If everybody refused to pay for popcorn at the movies then they'd give it away for free. Imagine that! Fee popcorn!!!!

If everyone refused to drive a car that used gas then, whooo hooo!, the environment would get fixed.

If everyone refused to clean public bathrooms then janitors would live like rock stars owning multi-million dollar mansions.

The same argument was said about PFT...Remember? "If no one paid it then it would go away"...

Okay Cletis, here's the thing. The world is populated by BILLIONS of individual people. We can't get everyone to agree on ANYTHING...EVER!

Two presidential candidates and the population is split. Roe V. Wade and the population is split. Gun Control or NRA and the population is split. Christian or Jewish and the population is split. Religious or Atheist and the population is split. Pepsi or Coke and the population is split.

Don't ever say, "if no one did 'such and such' then the world would be better" cause with so many people out there looking out for themselves I guarantee someone will do "such and such".

Just pointing out the obvious over here.

what im saying is why pay all that money for a job that pays crap.......people pay for a movie to start with....popcorn is optional....people buy cars....gas is optional.....

why pay 50k for a job that pay less than half that.

when i started flying it cost me about 14k for all my ratings....i made 21k as a cfi my first year....

my point is by accepting the job for such crappy pay is exactly why the pay is crappy.

21K is crapy pay by my book.

18K is great pay by some CFIs book.

Just because market forces allowed you a slight pay bump for your first gig doesn't mean that's what exists today.

With that said I have no idea why anyone would get into avition today. Maybe the "love of flight", or "dad's making me". I don't know. But for whatever reason they are getting in and if they don't take the job someone else will. And they know that.

My only point is to stop beating the "if everyone would just stop" drum because EVERYONE never will.

My only point is to stop beating the "if everyone would just stop" drum because EVERYONE never will.

someone has too.....otherwise it will never be fixed. How bout you stop the stop the "if everyone would just stop" thing.....that's why the industry sucks, is because people choose to ignore it then complain about thier crappy pay.

Okay, I'm the reason "why the industry sucks".

I take full responsibility.

Sorry everyone.

Glass -- apology accepted. Now as your penance, please turn this industry around. You got us into this now get us out. You may want to start with lowering the price of oil. $140+ a barrel...What were you thinking? Report back once you've fixed all your blunders.

Pilot Hiring Process...

Are there any other jobs with a selection process like this?

Have you ever just wanted to say at the interview ... " Are you sheetin me with that question?" ... While interviewing for one of those Regional Airlines that pay about as much as a Burger king hamburger flipper?

At least at Netjets there is a prize of a Career at stake.

Rant off

No I don't. I was being sarcastic.

Are You Sheeting Me With That Statement?

No I'm not. Bush is a criminal. It's a fact. Illegal wire taps. At this moment he has pardoned people who have not been charged with a crime. Imagine that! Why would you pardon someone who has not been charged yet?

I'll tell you. People who have been doing his dirty work for years are coming out of the wood work asking for pardons for possible upcoming indictments!

Bush works under the assumption that as president he is above the law. Therefore he tells people to do things that are illegal and then pardons them for doing it.

I expect WAY more from my government and hope to get it from the next administration. If Bush spent 50 years in prison as a traitor (Valerie Plame) or guilty of war crimes or treason then I wouldn't shed a tear. This has been the worst administration EVER and I do believe they had something to do with building number 7 coming down. Look into it.

truthabout911.com

just a starting point.

So.....how's the QOL over at NetJets anyway?

No I'm not. Bush is a criminal. It's a fact. Illegal wire taps.

just a starting point.

The starting point was Clinton. Clinton sent his Attorney general Janet Reno to Florida to expel that dangerous illegal alien Elian Gonzales (apparently the only illegal alien the dems don't like) back to Cuba.

Obviously this issue should have been settled in Florida Family Courts ... Meanwhile the 911 hijackers were taking flying lessons at Florida Flight Schools.

When it comes to US security I trust Bush, not the dems... or nutjobs that come up with WTC conspiracy theories.

Anybody that says, "I trust Bush" after the past 8 years is a complete idiot. Period.

he says after 7 yrs of no successful attacks on US soil and ...

a DOUBLING of the number of millionairs (doubling of the potential customers for Frac pilots) since the 2003 tax cuts. Thats why we have jobs and a QOL @ NJ to talk about in this thread.

He may have had 7 yrs of no successful attacks on US soil, but the deadliest attack on US soil WAS on his watch, wasn't it?

After that he really put a lickin' on our enemies Afghanistan and Iraq. Oh wait, no...we're still in both of those places losing hundreds lives (both American and foreign) daily. Not to mention the billions of dollars we spend each year to support those mistaken efforts. It's ok, we're the US...we can afford it. Oh wait, no...our economy is in the crapper too.

You trust Bush? You are insane. I don't care what side you are on or who you support in the future. We can all agree he would certainly make the Top 5 Worst Presidents list.

How many of you Bush-bashers have been to the Middle East and seen the reality of the Middle Eastern mentality and culture? HINT: It's not what Wolf Blitzer (or pick your liberal left reporter) is showing you...
Insofar as blaming Bush for 911, get a clue. He was just in office at the wrong time. PLEASE tell me that Clinton or Obama would have stopped it. As I recall, we had 2 terrorist attacks on US soil, a US Navy vessel, and so on and so on under Bubba's watch. Seems he was too busy chasing pu$$y and arranging "suicides".
Check this website out...talk about criminal

Just this past week while waiting for my airline flight. this old guy (70 yrs old, retired doctor) started talking to me. The converstation turned to politics, and he was telling me how Clinton was a drug trafficer while governor. He said that there were 25 cops that were killed under Clintons time as governor. I thought the old guy was crazy, but after seeing that website, maybe he was right.

QOL at NJs....other than concur, its great.

during Clintons tenure as Ar gov in the 80's, his largest fundraiser was a man named Don Lasatar. Lasatar was convicted for trafficking cocaine. This was also the period Roger Clinton was convicted for cocaine related offences. Coincidence?... maybe, maybe not

I love how when you start to criticize Bush, all the Bushies jump right in with their only argument;

"Well, what about Clinton?!?! He did drugs AND had an affair!"

I hate to tell you but that logic makes you all look desperate. When I say Bush is a criminal and you say well Clinton did drugs. It doesn't really compare does it?

First, Clinton is gone. Been almost 8 years now. Let it go. Bush, on the other hand, IS HERE NOW!!!

Clintons transgressions were minuscule compared to what's going on now. It's the difference between shooting a gun and throwing a gun. Just doesn't compare.

Oh, and here's an idea. When you defend a guy you could use that guy in the defense! My 3 year old makes that mistake. "Thomas! Why are you jumping on the couch? 'Well Andrew did..' "

At least the 3 year old used a like situation to justify his bad behaviour. You guys don't even do that!

I hope the QOL is still holding up at NetJets...

When a Fark.com thread veers toward pointless political blabber, this gets posted:

Politics (click for picture in new window)

It seems to sum up most of these stupid arguments pretty nicely. :D
