W&B is less of an issue in my experience on the CRJ than on the brazilian pencil jet. I've been bumped off more EMB jumpseats the past year because of MTOW issues than W&B issues on the CRJ. I think all the EMBs were LRs though; can't speak for the super-duper XR.

AWAC put 100lbs in tail of the airplane this summer amoung other things and that has nearly eliminated the need for ballast in our airplanes...unless there are 50 pax, a jumpseater, and only 15-20 checked bags. I'm sure many other CRJ operators have taken similar measures to prevent carrying a crapload of ballast and/or booting pax on a regular basis.

Do RAH CRJ pilots use a whiz-wheel for W&B?

I give you credit for being far more diplomatic and understanding then Popeye. Time for myself to be far more productive so I'm done with this thread. We'll have to probably just agree to disagree on the status of your test flights because just this week one of your pilots flying the test flight out of IAH was complaining about the many problems including blown out tires the CRJ was having. Other sources have also suggested completion factor threatening issues let alone the W&B load limiting issues. Race to the bottom isn't just a catch phrase, there are some real consequences behind it for the entire profession.

Not understanding am I......hmmmm

I was the one bumped by Express, then got what I thought was hassled on the next flight that got me to work. You seem more content to take mainline type routes as long as express does the flying. The race to the bottom started with RJ's, even before XJT was a company.

From a personal stand point I agree with Drizzle, who the Fcuk wants to commute to CRP. I would have rather kept all of the Delta flying and be sitting on a beach in Ft. Lauderdale right now than wondering how many times I can use our commuter clause because I cant get to work!

This sounds like the very coveted BNA base that Mesa still has. It too could be added to the WTF file.

Glad to be flying purple tailed monsters....and not dealing with these base closures etc....

You guys enjoy that!!....best of luck.

Time to interject a bit of truth to this one here. While one of the current CRJs has had some problems coming out of the frosty north(not the desert), the one down in IAH for MX is actually a MX simulation to get our MX peeps up to speed.

MX simulations? How do you tell a couple of pilots to go out and purposely blow tires so MX can get some practice changing them. Why not just have them go out and change tires instead of blowing tires. Not trying to bash on CHQ, but the plane actually broke in IAH and you write it off to MX simulations. Yes, we have planes that break at XJT, its life, we get it fixed and dont try to tell people, oh well its just a MX training event for us to randomly break airplanes and see if they can fix it.

i don't know about the tires, the other guys post coincided with the airplanes being down there for MX training and simulations. I'm telling the truth. If an old tire or 12 blew out so be it, proving runs are done and the wave of old airplanes will begin to descend on IAH.

Awesome, Great cant wait for the wave thats fantastic, Appreciate your professional demeanor! Thanks again.
