Way to go guys!!! You're gettin fired anyways at least come up with something good. I think this was about the absolute worst thing they could have said. Tell us the ghost of marylin monroe was servin up BJ's anything but this lame a$$ Sh!t. Why don't i just attach a cockpit voice recorder to myself 24/7. Fu(kin idiots.

What's next.....

Having a BBQ or setting up a Bull Roast in the cockpit? And people were criticizing the regional airline pilots? When mainline airline pilots are performing non-flying duties in the cockpit at 37,000 feet, that's crazy!!!

The last report I heard was a FA was in there with the two Pilots. UMMMMMMMM?????

Now, if this had been a Southwest crew -- We all here at the "Forum" would have chimed a prediction around, "...heard there was a flight attendant or two in the cockpit, lap dances etc..." and it would be, hmm - plausible, and perhaps believable.

Got to admit, they have a corporate culture you can embrace.
Oh, for the good ole days and young flight attendants.

Chances happening at NW: nil.

Doesn't matter...they'll get their jobs back, especially if they both have clean employment records. It'll take time, but they'll be back.

Heck, don't let your memories get short...we had a guy have his gun go off in the cockpit, and he just got his job back.

Think this is any worse?

At least your guy had something to back him up as to why it happened.

The new reg will be no personal items allowed on the flight deck. All overnight bags, computers, etc will be required to be in the passengers overhead compartments or carried as checked bags. The we will see increased instances of crews falling asleep because there is nothing to do on a long flight but stare out the windows.
Exactly right. And look for FAA and company check airman to meet the aircraft when it pulls into the gate to be there when the cockpit door opens and inspect the cockpit for any contraband. Any newspapers, books, magazines, laptops, cell phones, found and you're fired unitl the investigation is over, then you're fired until union might get your job back after loss of six month's wages.

Upside: look for a lot of senior guys who have any semblance of a pension to finally bail on this whole industry. Might be a lot of upward movement for the newcomers.

What's getting stupid isn't the media coverage. Who can blame them? These two morons keep changing their story to make this whole situation look more and more egregious each time. First everyone thought they were asleep. Then they said "no, we were in a heated discussion" about company policy. Now they say they were on their laptops. They are progressively making this profession look more and more like a joke with each statement. Tomorrow they're going to say they were mutually masturbating.

The media has multiple goals. Sensationalism and accountability are among them. They found a sensational story, and they want accountability. No thanks to these two d**chebags. It only took a few months for multiple boneheaded incidents to make what Sully did for pilot PR to completely be overshadowed and vanish.

They just reversed all the good publicity from Sulley's Hudson ditching.=(

You posted this as I was typing the same damn thing while editing my post. More obvious than I thought. That sucks for us.

They should have left it at "we had no crew meal on this transcon, we were tired from the previous day, and ended up dozing off for about 20 minutes.."

You guys actually believe this?

Agree it is hard to believe that even with both using laptops they would miss radio calls for over an hour or not notice where they were at. End of the day probably only two people are ever going to know the real story of what was going on.

Here we go again with mr. inferiority complex

No inferiority complex here...Just tired of being lectured to by pilots who land on taxiways and miss destinations by hundreds of miles while they play on their laptop....The "best of the best" aren't doing a good job of representing us lately....

These guys have had 80% of their procedures and policy in their airline get changed over the past few months, plus the way they bid changed very significantly this month.

Sounds like their explaination (NOT an excuse) is actually pretty plausible. I wonder when they are going to be deactivating the AC plugs in the cockpit....

:bawling::bawling:

They screwed up...Just admit it....Quit making excuses...

This is why porn in the cockpit has its place!

Just to add a strange twist onto this, the captain was from the same town as the infamous Mr. Hands: Gig Harbor, WA.

A little history:
In 2005, Kenneth Pinyan (Mr. Hands) was videotaped getting sodomized by an Arabian stallion. The aerospace engineer for Boeing frequently participated in these videotaped displays, most still displayed on the web. Pinyan died from a perforated colon from the receptive anal sex he received from that stallion in 2005.

So maybe they were trying to get that link and it took them until Wisconsin to finally get it? Just a thought.

I read you make excuses for why they did this.....

You need to work on your reading comprehension Joe.

He clearly stated "NOT an excuse." He said their explanation was plausible. In other words, it is a believable explanation in light of the amount of changes.

He clearly (well, to most) was not saying it was a valid excuse.

"These guys have had 80% of their procedures and policy in their airline get changed over the past few months, plus the way they bid changed very significantly this month."

Read between the lines...The excuses are coming out...The new procedures shouldn't even be a factor unless you are trying to make excuses......

If that's the case then I think we'll see USA Todays blowing around taxiways everywhere...
