Pool for March Class calls

Luvfan suggested to start a pool for when the first call for March classes come.

Dinner at the Outback on me in Dallas for who ever gets the closest. Let's make it sportier though (since I'm buying, I want to decrease the chance of paying out),
Not only do you have to get the date right of the first call by the People Department, you have to guess who will be the last swimmer to be called on the SWA Pool list for the first class. Example: I pick 15 Jan and #46 - Pitchfork

I think the PD will start calling the next lucky class on Jan 23d. Chief pilot calls will follow a few weeks later. Squirt gets the last nod.

Although it looks great seeing the potential "last pick of the 1st class in Mar" below me in the pool on alot of guesses, I don't think it's gonna quite work out that way. I'm going with:
Class calls begin: 26 Jan
Last person in 1st class: #33 NightFrt8

OPIE, I assume you mean the last one to enter the 1st class in Mar AFTER any potential fallout/turn downs (i.e. can be a last-second, space filler)

I'll jump in on this. 2 Feb and #29 PTinbound. Since you and I may get the same class, that should make it easier for me to find you after I win. full disclosure since I don't want to end up in front of an over-zealous federal prosecutor, since I'm in the pool and talk with the PD every few months for an update and just to exchange a few general pleasantries, some might call that 'insider information.'

I've been told 3-4 classes out more than once and once the Jan 12th class starts tomorrow, that should leave me 2-3 out using some pilot math (3-1=2 and 4-1=3). And with me being #40 on the current pool list, thus my deduction of #32 the endpoint of the firstthird prognosticated 8 March class.

Let's assume there are about 200 in the pool. We know there are about 150 on the flight info unofficial list who are in the pool and waiting for the call. That means we have about 75% of the poolies here on our board's list.

So...for every class size of 20, approximately 15 from our list should get the call. If that's true then there will be about 10 classes before all poolies dry off (assuming 20 per class).

If they have classes of 24 instead, then an average of 18 get called each class and we would need just about 8 classes to dry us all off.

Plus, we "heard" they will drain the pool this spring...so that means drained by??? Early June??? That's good news!

I was told by LL when i talked to her last week that the pool (All of it) would be drained by the end of May. That was good news to me!!

We anticipate resuming interviews for hiring in March of this year. The pool will be exhausted in mid-spring with the forecasted classes. As you know, our on-line application site will open Monday, January 12. Our People Department recruiters and staff have done an outstanding job and are excited to resume the interview process. With the resumption of hiring, you can expect to see monthly vacancy bids and Captain upgrade classes beginning in March

While ALLIMAS had my hopes up........it was not to be. Looks like Firstthird may have been the last lucky poolster to dry off on the 01Mar04 class. Talked to LL about 2 weeks ago. She indicated that I was more toward the middle of our 15 Mar class and that movin up was probably not probable. Perhaps that old pool factor is coming into play. Regardless.....it wont be long before were all drying off. Save me a spot at the bar

Well COOPDOG you couldn't have gotten any closer. And Since my type date is earlier than Dutch's, I should have been in the 31 or 32 spot any anyway. So I'll assume you picked the right number and not worry about the name.

Plus now there is a great chance you will be in the 15 March Class with me, it will be easier for me to pay up at the Big D with a juicy steak.

I would believe around 20% of the poolies have gone on to other things. In anycase, the fact that #48 got called confirms the PD's word about "leveling" the classes. The bottom line is the SWA is hiring and the pool will be empty very soon. Good luck to everyone waiting for class or an interview.
