I guess the stats are a little skewed because I am not in the top 10 but my trips are all commutable at both ends

I was referring to those that commute to the West. I highly doubt that if you live on the West coast all your trips are commutable on both ends....unless you are doing all highspeeds with 10 days off, or you have a time machine.

Maybe if we got a new contract that treated up properly we wouldnt have to steer people away from here

Ha Ha, now thats funny stuff Dave. Come on, I know you're smarter than that. Management doesn't give a rats azz how you're treated. If you've been there 2 yrs, you've been there 2 yrs too many.
You're doing nothing but costing them more money each year you're there.
PCL-128 is raping them for all their concerned. 5 yrs at Captain pay? If they could, they would have thier little GIA 300hour wonder as captains for them, but the regs say "no"

How many guys are they getting in each class? Maybe you should meet up with these new hire classes outside of the company and urge them to run as fast as possible...thats if you really wanted to steer people away. You know what hotel they stay at.

It's going to be more fun now, seeing you guys got the 16- CRJ900's from Delta. Who's getting those? You or Colgan? I'm guessing management will be waving those infront of Colgans nose, to get the whipsaw in effect.

All I can suggest if they do, is don't bite. Let Colgan have them for what ever rates they offer to fly them for. I have been out of the loop, but is Colgan ALPA now, or has the vote not taken place? Hopefully ALPA will step to the plate, and not allow either carrier fly those airplanes for $.01 less than what Horizon flies thier -900's for.

You know, that almost makes it worth while to stick around this place.

Almost.:)

Just what does Horizon fly the -900 for?

How about commute from San Francisco.
Is anyone at Pinnacle In the Bay area?

Come on guy! Take a hint, don;t go there. No matter what your situation is, DONT GO THERE!!!

I don't care if you're a low timer, just trying to get a job. It's seriously not worth the pain and agony to go work for a company like this or Mesa.

Go flight instruct or fly boxes.

First, I'm glad to see a PCL thread that took this long to mention CJC.

Second, we have a hard enough time staffing the Q. The capt list went almost all the way to the end of our senority list. No one wants to fly it. Right now anyway. Only ONE FO even applied. And he/she was a beech guy/gal...

You can have your jets as far as I care. I'm happy with my beta. And if you have been 'out of the loop' maybe you just need to shhhh....

Go ALPA...

Now that the ink is dry on the agreement, it should be available for inspection per SEC rules...? I bet there's some type of limit to using Colgan for the DAL contract. They'd have been foolish not to include one and send a bunch of shiny jets to a pilot group who's never flown them before when there's an operating wing that's operating a smaller version of the same jet.

That said, Rick, you're NEVER going to get guys to stop taking these jobs. These guys lack the perspective, not to mention the personal self esteem to realize they're worth MORE than $17,500 a year after all the training they've had.

I swear, the BEST thing ALPA could do is start a grass-roots high school campaign to show these kids a typical schedule (5-6 leg days, 8-9 hour overnights, 18 days a month working) with the pay rate for their entire regional career and see if they really want to be gone from home that much for no return.

They've all seen "Top Gun", "Catch me if you can", etc, and think that you get to fly to all these exotic places and have long overnights to party and sightsee.

They need to find out that they won't get to do much of ANY of that for the next 2 decades until they're a senior pilot at a Legacy carrier, and that if they're off by a little bit when the hiring cycle comes around this time, they can add another 5-7 years to that, and even then that have to schmooz like a dirty fiend to get the recommendations they'll need to move on to a major.

When you put it like that, who would think it was a good idea?

Shortage of incoming pilots = one of two things.

Ab initio training from Private to airline (which still doesn't fix the problem), or
Higher pilot salaries

Supply and Demand

Given the new upgrade minimums for the current FO's at Pinnacle, what is the upgrade time looking like for someone who is hired in with 3500 plus hours?

Hello,
I don't really see CJC operating the -900, or any other jet in the "forseeable" future. We have the same staffing issus that many regional airlines are currently experiencing. Deliveries of the Q-400 coupled with the conditional/optional orders wouldn't indicate any other type of airplane on the property. It is true that the Q-400 bid went pretty senior, and fewer than a handful of F/Os are bidding the right seat. Whether it's by design or circumstance, management hasn't given a whole lot of incentives to fly the thing.
The larger concern is rumors that Mesaba (NWA) will be unloading their SAABs on PCL. Given the fact that Pinnacle Holdings strategic plan is to have Colgan the turboprop airline and Pinnacle Airlines the jet airline. We could logically assume that Colgan will recieve all or some of these aircraft. What kind of a whipsaw this will take is anyone's guess?

Regards,

ex-Navy Rotorhead

Come on now... Northwest wouldn't create some reason to remove Mesaba's planes. Besides :puke: Spanjers assures us all is well. We have sucessfully secured our core flying of 49 Saabs, we have outstanding metrics, the 19.4% saved Mesaba (yes I know it ended up a little less than that) bla bla bla. :smash:
