Southwest Airlines Co. says its Lubbock-to-Dallas flight schedule will be reduced during the first three months of 2009 because of routine flight schedule reductions that are implemented each period to ensure fuel and aircraft efficiency.
The Lubbock-to-Dallas flights on Southwest are known for jetting Texas Tech University students between the university in Lubbock and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
On the winter schedule, Dallas-based Southwest (NYSE: LUV) is cutting three weekend flights from Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport to Dallas, leaving five flights on that same route during the weekend. The changes will be in effect during the company’s winter schedule, which runs from Jan. 11 through March.
In addition, a spokesman confirmed Tuesday that the airline will be temporarily eliminating its one weekend flight from Lubbock to El Paso during the winter months and reducing the number of weekend flights from Lubbock to Austin to two during the same period.
A spokesman calls the cuts routine and quite possibly temporary, considering Southwest re-evaluates its flight schedule every period. The winter schedule, which includes the changes, is one of the airline's slowest periods, the spokesman added.
The Lubbock flight schedule changes are separate from Southwest’s recent announcement that it will be cutting 190 flights from its winter schedule, beginning in January, to ensure the carrier is optimizing its flight routes and streamlining expenses. Southwest says those flight changes also are temporary and could very well change when the company drafts the next schedule.

OOOOOOOH SNAP! There goes the best layover in SWA's system (according to people on here), or less chances of that layover anyway. I guess you will just have to settle for more chances of Midland, Amarillo, Islip, or Harlingen.......Don't fret though, El Paso will always be available too if you NEED to layover in West Texas.

I knew I could count on you for direction. My life will once again be complete. Thanks

Actually, you should have asked me for more inspiration before you went to Skybus. What a cluster Fu%$ that was. Your life will never really be complete after you flew for those turds. But hey, if you do fly for Southwest now, you sure did win the lottery compared to Skyturds or the "shame train."

But I do...I'm smuggling oil home in my bags and running a bootleg refinery in my garage.

Dude, Never been there or done that. Been with the LUV machine when we were THE "bus of the sky" thus the handle.

GL,

I still don't know what gives with your LBB-fixation. You often claim that you're just responding to chest thumping SWA guys, but in reality you begin threads with dumbass titles like "New Delta service and it's not to LBB" and such. Delta bet all the cards on Int'l and it's going well - for now. SWA obviously bet all the cards long ago on places like LBB and AMA and others, and it's going well for now. I guess we'll all see in the end.

Please don't respond again with the usual "great stews at SWA" etc. We actually have a fair amount of the "alternative" crowd lately. Be thankful for all those hot grammies flying over in the E councourse with you GL. Good luck with the hot flashes ;)

Hoping you direct your angst somewhere else someday - how about freight bashing maybe??

Hey, I don't care for LBB. I've been there a couple times, and don't plan on going back. My whole beef here is that some Southwest guys think their poop don't stink, and anyone who would ever think that Southwest wasn't the best thing since sliced bread was a loser. Anytime I say I just don't think I would like to fly one aircraft type, with 25 minute turns, with multiple leg days on most trips, domestically, for the rest of my life, they litterally drop their jaws like I just slapped Jesus. Come on, not everyone wants that type of flying. Some people want variety. Now, they do have great pay, and fun people to fly with (stews), so that is a plus. I just want variety in flying---routes, planes, etc. If I want to leave INTL flying and go back to domestic, I can do it. If I want to go back, then I can do that too. If they can't handle that, then too bad. I wish them luck, and I think their hedges are great. Good for them. I will not willingly bid ANY West Texas layovers, and if we ever do fly to LBB, I will try to avoid it. I just don't want to go there.

As far as my posts or threads that make fun of LBB, we all agree this website is for information seeking, and probably some entertainment. I enjoy laughing, and MAYBE some of the SWA guys do too. I am sure they have a sense of humor, well, except the Academy guys.....

Also, you OBVIOUSLY didn't hear about our newhire stews at JFK. A lot of our INTL flights are with new flight attendants that are speakers and a lot younger than even some of your stews. Amazing. NYC is our junior base, and even ATL pilots do a lot of flying into and out of JFK. They are a lot of fun, and not grannies. (like your DAL based stews)

All airlines suck. We spend half our lives on the road chasing the almighty dollar so we can feed our families without really working.

It's just that Southwest sucks less than everybody else.

I'll take a DAL "granny" over any flight attendant in the system. I think, that most SWA Pilots will agree if they have had an opportunity to fly with them. They know their job and do it well. Most 55 yr old DAL fa's are better put together and take more pride in their appearances and job than most younger, pierced, tatooed, wrinkled uniform, unwashed hair younger fa's.

Until you come to the realization that you will HAVE TO GO to El Paso again, for the 400th time this year, and that more and more are on the horizon, forever. Boredum will result, and thanks to lack of variety for routes and aircraft, a sense of helplessness will overcome you. That higher pay you have, won't mean as much, since you still have to fly 4 or 5 legs a day to get it. Your wife and kids will want more, meaning you will have to fly even more legs, and more 25 minute turns. Your head will spin, and when it stops, you are in Amarillo in a public restroom, and an old cowboy is looking at you, asking himself "is that guy ok, or is he just a fuc$*&g dipsh%^?" Your retort? "Can I get an armadillo quesadilla please?" Ah variety, it is the spice of life....

As one of the biggest kool-aid drinking Delta cheerleaders on FI, you should really take a good look in the mirror before making statements like that.
