Oh, didn't you hear Fins? NWA folks are always in dark, cold, frozen parts of the world. We don't go outside cause the wx's always lousy. If only I could get to Rio......

You most likely never will. The farthest south you do fly is a Saturday only A320 to Liberia, Costa Rica from MSP, and I bet that is a turn with double crews. It is a true fact that you and most of your cohorts are based in very cold places, and that you do endure the cold a lot longer than most people. Your "premium" widebody flying affords you a few different areas to explore, but not much variety. If you want to see Asia, wow, you really can do it. As far as anywhere else in the world, well, you are limited. You do have one daily flight to India (you might want to see that ONCE), and a few to a very select amount of Europe (AMS, CDG, FRA, and LHR (LGW to LHR) on the "premium" A330, and AMS and DUS on the 757. (and a few select 757 runs out of NRT, so Diesel9 can see his lady friend that pumps up his ego). That's great for you guys. Go enjoy your "premium widebody flying...."

As for your SPC comments, I couldn't make much sense of your reply and it really didn't answer my question to you. Again, are you aware of the circumstances, under the RLA, that allow a strike?

There seems to be some confusion. We are not in section six and this is not about a strike, so why a SPC? Simple, strategic preparedness. The SPC along with our P2P committee and our own unique form a family awareness called the Delta Pilot Network work closely together not only during strike preparations, but also during non strike events, such as filling a convention center with 3000 employees, to kick off our anti-hostile takeover effort, with US Senators and Congressmen in attendance, or filling a Senate Hearing room with uniformed Delta pilots among other things. These committees can work closely together to mobilize different public/political responses as well as facilitate communications from the MEC to the pilots and from pilots to the MEC.

There's a reason management had us involved in merger negotiations from there inception and offered significant financial rewards if we chose to go along with a merger. No one puts money in our pockets because they want to play nice.

It's not about a strike, it's about strategic preparedness and being ready to respond in a variety of ways. If you don't get it, that's fine, it's not about what you get or donm't get, the important thing for us is that management apparently gets it.

Yeah, there's some confusion all right. If you reread the thread you'll see that was referring to fin's comments about having comfortable "walking circle" shoes and a second job lined up. You know, things that seem to go along with the idea of going on strike? He's yet to explain why he needs those things for filling a convention hall. Thanks for all the totally unrelated info though. Lemme help you out here.

1. You don't talk to the people who decide if it's "dead" or not. (Not a slam, you just don't. For that matter, neither do I)

2. There is no deadline for putting something together, other than an announcement that a merger will proceed without a pilot pre-nup.

3. Both teams are still very much interested in putting something together (as of 2-hours ago. :) ), and #1 and #2 still apply.

The sniping on this thread is just "bar talk". The pressure points in the industry are shifting a bit, while the investment structure and options are steady. Those spell o-p-p-o-r-t-u-n-i-t-y for the "geniuses" that pull the strings.

The ONLY reason Delta wasn't part of a hostile requisition from 'The New US Airways' is because THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS didn't want it...period.
(the shareholders wanted to hear more of what ol' Doogy was pitchin).

Waltzing around capital hill in the Double Breastesees only enlightened the fact that THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS didn't want it.
(and thus stalled the deal long enough for Doogy to pull it sensing a harder battle than he was willing to fight).

If THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS wants THIS deal...I think you are looking at a different animal (especially with Rich at the controls now).

I think it would take a helluva lot more than showing up with the Double Breastesees and the hats.

It would probably take some sort of job action. That would be playing with fire in the current uncertain situation the industry finds itself in. Are you REALLY willing to start over senior guy's? Doubt it.

Good Luck. We'll go ahead and take arbitration when this thing gets forced thru (so BOTH CEO's can start sleeping at night again).

Remember, the CEO's job at a Legacy carrier has been made almost impossible with $110 oil. You can't just shift the entire expense over to ticket prices. Cut labor cost's?...yes...but what's left to cut?

You can do quite a bit of walking without going on strike or supporting a strike and sometimes walk in circles too. Results are what matters, there are many ways to get results.

You were Honolulu based? Will you ever be again? Now you are DTW based. Big difference. Ouch. And, the A320 won't get you to HNL. If you want to go, I would bid the 757 and try to get those flights from DTW via SFO, LAX, PDX, and SEA. (Yeah, I saw that in a timetable) And yes, a 14 day vacation to a tropical location would be better than 20 hours (although Rio is 36 hours, along with Santiago, Buenos Aires, etc). But, you always have to go back to Detroit. Not me. I also like it when someone else pays for my "mini vacation".

Hmmm, by your own admission you don't know and don't talk to the folks that matter. I do. If by folks that matter you mean members of our MEC. Anything done without both pilot groups, I think we could both agree, would be outside of the transaction framework agreement.

Well there are no deadlines in this industry. Anything is possible, but not everything is probable. Delta could announce the purchase of UPS. Sure it's possible, just highly improbable.

Geez, and all this time I thought that decision was made by the Committee of Unsecured Creditors. Who says you can't learn something on F.I.? I wonder who was on that committee, maybe Redmeat can tell me, he seems to know everything.
