That number is assets and liabilities. It certainly does not represent what the market cap of the merged airline will be.

Yeah no kidding.....Based on the stellar performance of the stock and stock market and the fact that oil is up nearly $4.00/barrell,
DAL market cap = $1.69B
NWA market cap = $1.55B

Exactly, and valuation is key. It could be a great deal or we could get screwed. Time will tell. At this rate the company may only be worth a billion. Maybe Mark Cuban will buy it then. He seems to like risk!

Mark Cuban already partially owns a company that flies 75/76's.

Puff:

You are correct that incredible restraint has been shown. But, that's good head work - maintaining one's dignity and restraint.

When you see your opponent is in a hole and dirt is flying out of the top, just let him keep digging.

The longer this drags on, the more Compass and Mesaba deliveries pile up, the more pressure gets but on the old gas guzzlers and the less can get blamed on the Delta pilots.

Delta will most likely start hiring in August with a larger advanced entitlement coming up. That little batch of 777 deliveries will have to be staffed around that time.

I'm in no hurry to merge seniority lists, are you?

As the trains leave the station, it is up to the NWA pilots and their leadership when they want to get on board. The NWA pilots obviously will resist anything they feel is a cram down. IMHO we should play nice and wait them out.

This guy knows...

Yup, right on the money. I have been saying it since day 1 of the merger. They will, however, spin it to make it somebody else's fault. Then it will be time for yet another Varita. I'd rather have a negotiated settlement and sli.

I love it when some, not all, Delta guys think its just the other side who spins things.....refreshingly bliss to be ignorant.

By the way, the word you misspelled is Veritas which is Latin for truth. Very ironic considering the spin cycle that is going on between both sides.

key words above in red. Don't expect Puffy to ever admit it though. Que him/her coming right back with some condescending comments towards the mean old NWA pilots.:)

Nope, nothing condescending. Right on cue, the "spelling" argument was used. Game, set, match.

Man, I'm tired of being right.

Why all the arguments? At the rate things are going none of us are going to have jobs! The way things are going, I can see our entire economy grinding to a screeching halt. Eventually it's going to get to the point where people can't even afford to drive to work yet alone have extra money to buy airline tickets maybe except for Mister Anderson and Mister Steenland.

Well, with the rate oil is rising, at least one side may be parking a bunch of planes. That's ok though, since I would rather that happen BEFORE a SLI, instead of AFTER.

People will still travel with high oil, thanks to gas for driving being just as expensive. After 9-11 many people chose to drive because it was too much of a hassle to go through that extra security. Now it is expensive either way you do it, and even Greyhound will become more expensive. (and nobody wants to go on the Shame Train)

Unfortunately more airlines will go away, and the remaining ones will be the ones who had enough cash on hand to survive this. That is one reason for a DL/NWA merge. But, before it is done, some trimming could be completed I bet.

Bye Bye--General Lee

trimming is already happening on both sides. You remember those nasty fleet updates we heard about a couple weeks ago, right? I know you didnt miss it ;)
