when this list comes out, will it be an indication for potential hiring in '09?

The only thing the list will let them know is who they can furlough. Until they have the list, they don't know if they should furlough Delta guys or NWA guys. Now they can just lop the guys off the bottom and not worry about it.

So much for growth....

Starting in March, going from 12-18 MD-88s LGA-DCA to ALL E-175's. Looks like the NYC base will be getting a bit smaller.

The big question is where are those Md88s going after they leave the shuttle ops. The 175s are previously ordered or in service aircraft. If those -88s get moved then there isnt a loss of pilot positions.

Either way this just goes to show that scope is a huge issue that must be taken seriously.

General Lee will tell you that giving up scope is why Delta flies more wide-bodies than narrow-bodies. He seems to think smaller airplanes like DC-9's going away is a good thing.

I've heard him talk about the 717 as a replacement for DC9s. Perhaps you enjoy flying 1960s vintage airplanes.

This is pretty inconsiderate ... no announcement, just keep people hanging. Phones are turned OFF.

They know everyone is anxiously awaiting word, folks are losing sleep. This lets me know how our Reps view their constituency. Maybe we need someone in office who is a little more responsive.

Lots of pilots are going to be fatigued tomorrow if they don't get out some form of communication. They should at least send out something that says stop waiting for the train wreck and go to bed.

This is clearly not a good sign if they wait so long.

This merger will not happen. No way, no how.

I agree. If it's not coming out tonight, let me know...........4:30 van tomorrow.

For which side? I truly want to see something fair to both sides. I do not want a lop-sided award that creates a US Airways situation. I don't want to get screwed, but I also do not want a wind-fall at a fellow pilot's expense.

I totally agree. Its very Inconsiderate. Even if it was a single sentence to say please wait a few hours or until tomorrow. But nothing at this point is not professional. IMHO

From NWAALPA:

FastRead
Monday, December 8, 2008

Numerous calls and emails have been pouring in throughout the day to NWA ALPA reps and the ALPA office from pilots asking when the seniority list arbitration award will be published. As of 6:45 pm CST, the arbitrators’ award has not been received by the Merger committee. The Communications committee will notify Northwest pilots via FastRead and Code-a-phone as soon as the award is posted on the NWA MEC website.
