when this list comes out, will it be an indication for potential hiring in '09?

The only thing the list will let them know is who they can furlough. Until they have the list, they don't know if they should furlough Delta guys or NWA guys. Now they can just lop the guys off the bottom and not worry about it.
 
So much for growth....


Starting in March, going from 12-18 MD-88s LGA-DCA to ALL E-175's. Looks like the NYC base will be getting a bit smaller.


The big question is where are those Md88s going after they leave the shuttle ops. The 175s are previously ordered or in service aircraft. If those -88s get moved then there isnt a loss of pilot positions.

Either way this just goes to show that scope is a huge issue that must be taken seriously.
 
General Lee will tell you that giving up scope is why Delta flies more wide-bodies than narrow-bodies. He seems to think smaller airplanes like DC-9's going away is a good thing.

I've heard him talk about the 717 as a replacement for DC9s. Perhaps you enjoy flying 1960s vintage airplanes.
