Wow, a sim guy who knows everything.......versus a line FO who thinks he knows everything?Trust me on this one thing....Occam knows one hellofalot more than you do about what is going on. A lot of sim guys are scared to fly, and enjoy the power of the control panel in the sim, but can't figure out why they can't stop the motion in the actual plane. And I'm sure a lot of line Captains are scared to fly with you BobbyLee.Why the obvious chip on the shoulder towards Occam? And, yes, I read your little tantrum before you edited it after even your own DL buds told you it was inappropriate. Another proud GL moment!!Are you one of those my know it all friend? Anyway, here is an article from Seeking Alpa (?) which has it's own opinion on how this will go down.....

Will Delta Agree to Northwest's Offer Without Pilot Consent?

posted on: April 02, 2008 | about stocks: DAL / NWA

Over the last few days it has been reported that Northwest Airlines (NWA) has been in discussions with Delta Airlines (DAL) regarding moving forward with a merger without an agreement between the companies' respective pilots unions. As noted in previous updates, the tactic of obtaining pilot consent before reaching a formal merger agreement is an oddity, yet it appears to have been somewhat of a necessity in this particular case. Given DAL's position in the industry -- both in terms of longevity and market standing -- the pilot seniority issue is more critical in this deal than perhaps any airline deal in the past. The sheer number of DAL pilots that will be affected by this potential combination makes this deal unique and not in a positive sense.
Thus, attempts to move forward with this transaction without a formal pilots agreement in place seem to be misguided and, in many ways, an act of desperation on NWA's part. Perhaps the concept is to forcibly motivate the pilots into an agreement via reaching a formal merger agreement in the near future. Unfortunately, the original tactic of obtaining pilot consent beforehand has essentially resulted in what appears to be -- at least at this juncture -- an unreasonable impasse.
Again, this publication feels that the pilots can eventually reach a mutually agreeable settlement (as occurs in virtually every airline transaction), HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh yeah baby, I'm taking this article seriously now. What a Credible source you have found GL!!I'd love to have this author list all the airline mergers where the pilots have reached a "mutually agreeable settlement" since it happens in virtually every case!. Hilarious.but the concept that a formal merger agreement will expedite this is very much flawed. In fact, it could very well result in the opposite outcome desired by the companies.
At this point, it is not believed that DAL will agree to a formal merger agreement with NWA, regardless of terms, while its pilots union remains unhappy with the seniority list provisions. Until the pilots can work out the issue on their own, as originally planned, DAL is much better off rejecting any offer NWA proposes.

Disclosure: We have no positions of any kind, in any security. We are a completely neutral source of research and analysis.

Disclosure: We really have no freaking idea about how the airline industry works.

(sigh)

If Steenland was the guy making the decisions on all of this...I might be worried. Since he isn't, I sleep better.

Speaking of sleeping, I bet you got a lot of it during the "corporate governance" lecture in Econ, eh?

It was sarcasm you dumba$$. Have you ever heard of sarcasm? He's your super-transparent, greedy-ba$tard CEO - not mine.

BTW, your holier-than-thou-I-gotta-secret attitude is really annoying. I ain't in your sim - THANK GOD. I don't want to pick up any bad habits from you. I feel lucky that I don't work at either airline because I am sure that any integration would be VERY MESSY. I am happy to watch (and comment) from afar.

(he knows a heck of a lot more about your side's desperation, absolutely. Our guy FDJ2 knows what is going on on our side---yet Occum tries to tell him what is up. Give me a break---Occum knows why the NWA MEC keeps calling, and it makes him nervous...)

(Wow, great retort---and you sure can MANAGE the heck out of that bus! You are some pilot, I mean computer manager. Make sure you pull out your tray table and color in your coloring books. And wow, you read my tantrum? Really? Was it a tantrum or a spot on analysis? Did you not like the "simian" reference? Occum actually started that with me, although I think it fits his character better. Living in a sim can be a lot like living in a cave.)

(Thanks for giving your input, but guess what? They don't want it. Can you get your opinion published out there in the media? I doubt it. But you can act like a know it all on FI---ask Occum how to do it.)

Heyas DTW320,

While I agree with you that the old General can be a twitchy little nerd, I think the best thing we can do go with ACL's suggestion and see what comes up.

I've picked up a mellow vibe from both sides in the last day or two, and you don't want to harsh it....

I have tried to mellow out a bit, but some know it alls like to come on here and spout off. I just wanted to post an actual article or analysis, and 319 gets all excited. The constant cold weather up North is really getting to a few of you.

On your six

One of these days you may grow up and at best, be a tenth as cool as Occam... No one really cares about your opinions here since you are not involved. Now, please go back to you little jet and don't forget to load all the luggage and have the drinks ready for your snubby paxs... DUMBASS!!!!!

I think I'd rather be a little cold than sweating like a whore in church (reference Hotlanta).

Don't forget having the rent-a-car in position and all gassed up!

:D

ACL:

Mike Haber would get busy again if that were to happen and I'm not a Haber fan, at all....

NWA without the some pilots would have parallels with Duke / Spellacy. ALPA's legal representation in these matters has not been the best. These lawyers practice politics more than law.

Spellacy got thrown out by the courts, the Duke pilots settled before that. Neither case was based on the legality of a fragmentation. It wasn't so much how many pilots got to go with the aircraft as it was a case of who got to go.

Super...
What's the latest at NWA? I think you posted something earlier, but I can't find it.

I'm swimmin' in the pool with the rest of them.

So, you would rather fly this:

than this:

http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=1173613&size=L&width=1024&height=695&sok=&photo_nr=5

or:

http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=1318843&size=L&width=1024&height=695&sok=&photo_nr=76

Gee, OYS must be smokin' crack to make that switch! I'd say he did a lot better than most of you guys. After all, he isn't in your anxiety-producing situation. Sounds like he got out of this lame business just in time.

I like your "my big, old, dilapidated jet is better than your smaller, faster, more high-tech and more luxurious jet" attitude. Good luck with that!

I want to fly the one that pays more and has more time off. Having flown both for the airlines and corporate operations I will take the money followed closely by the time off over "high-tech and more Luxurious" any day of the week. At the end of a long day it is still a damn airplane that I can't wait to get away from.

Agreed. I think we'd all fly this:

If the price was right.

Not carrying the bosses wifepoo's purse and her little yipping rat dog out to the Bently is a nice plus.
