Is this the largest airline merger in aviation history? It has to be close and with 11,000+ pilots involved, it is rumor worthy.

The REAL joke is someone with a screen name calling his or herself the "Voice Of Reason" on FI.com.

Looks like they're taking notes from the Doug Parker playbook. Nothin' like a good ol' whipsaw to get the concessions management needs. Don't want to fly at that rate?? Guess the other carrier can pick up that route.

Don't think it can happen? Go to Phoenix or Vegas one day and compare US Air blue top aircraft to the new paint scheme.

Get ready for a new chapter in pilot labor relations..

I do not think that they will be able to do this. DAL has some scope that makes this difficult to impossible.
We have AF/KLM and NWA in the scope section. It defines the code share as well as a few other things.
I think that it is just another ploy to get us to play together.

Somebody on another thread mentioned the rumor of Delta acquiring some or all of NWA routes/assets only. Is there any basis for that rumor?

That would make the SLI problem fairly simple.

That circulated around NW about a month ago.

The way it (the rumor) was explained was Delta would essentially 'buy' everything from NW (infrastructure-wise) and re-hire all the NW employees.

It sounds crazy but it was a rumor around here none the less.

NWA without the some pilots would have parallels with Duke / Spellacy. ALPA's legal representation in these matters has not been the best. These lawyers practice politics more than law.

If I were the pilot on the NWA merger committee I think I would change my name and move to an island in the Southern Hemisphere that does not have phone service. At best, he will be reading more deposition notices than flight plan releases.... a fact anyone in ALPA service during this dogfight should consider.

Nobody at DL would/should allow anything like that to happen. We're different companies but we're all ALPA. That would set a terrible precedent and would divide ALPA for years. The rumor was probably regarding the other employee groups, not the pilots.

Like I said I do not see that happening. Any furloughs will probably come before the lists are merged, or off the list where the flying was cut.

The would be more of a paper deal anyways. As far as ALPA is concerned, how the deal happens does not matter. We will be merged the same either way.
